The songs aren't the (entire) problem. It's that he can't keep his fucking mouth shut. He just needed to NEVER MENTION the incident again after that initial apology, but instead he kept ON and ON about how he DESERVED forgiveness and now everybody's seen him as the cunt he is and they can't be arsed giving him money.
Funny really given that before the incident he was widely loved and seen by most people as a sort of cutesy charmer who moms and daughters alike could happily crush on.
Forever and With You are incredible pop songs, this album would have been a 'nice' follow up with some mediocre sized hits like Pass Out and IYA but to get over the Rihanna incident he sould have apologized, got over it and brought it back with 3 absolute corkers of hits!

Inexplicably he seems to be getting HEAVY PRAISE from the BET audience for the performance, on Facebook some of myfriends were all saying they couldn't believe they were saying this but 'Chris Brown did a great job' or something to that effect, similar things were said all over Twitter. He was just GROANING over "Man in the Mirror" with CROCODILE TEARS and a mic that was still TURNED OFF and gets a standing ovation? He hasn't been through ANYTHING, he got basically a slap or two on the wrists and released an album that flopped majorly because it was FUCKING SHIT
I don't think this will cross over into a mainstream revival, mind you, but it is still very worrying
