New Britney Album in Spring 2010?

Not really confirmed as of yet but quite a handful of random news sites and blogs are reporting it.

Britney Spears will release the follow-up to 2008’s Circus in late spring 2010, it has been confirmed.

According to her record label Jive, the singer is working towards a May release for her seventh studio album.

US songwriter Sean Garrett recently confirmed that he is penning material for the new record.

The 27-year-old is also expected to team up with Max Martin, who wrote previous hits including '…Baby One More Time', 'If U Seek Amy' and current single '3'.

I'm quite happy for a new album, and i'll play it to death as per. But i'd prefer if she started using some new producers. It's just going to be Blackout pt.3.

Well it was really. Same style, mostly same producers. Just slightly better put together.

'Circus' and 'Blackout' are spectrums apart (despite the intention). I can't think of a single thing 'Circus' did better than 'Blackout'. Except maybe the fact that we got more "proper" videos out of the project.

    Explain?
Both were electro-pop albums with little input from the singer, with quite varied sounds.
There is little difference between the producers.
I feel you could mix the tracklists up and you'd not feel like you've picked two different albums and thrown them together.

I'd be interested how you can explain them being 'spectrums apart'?

Better promotion (at the beginning at least). Some fantastic videos. Slightly more cohesive sound throughout the album. The inclusion of ballads. Lots of bonus tracks and b-sides. Better artwork....

'Circus' is much more pop, the "electro" sounds mostly tired and whilst Britney herself sounds more "present" on the album, that really isn't beneficial to the music - I really can't see the excitement in the fact that there are ballads when she's hardly known for them, besides 'Everytime', of which there is nothing that comes close on 'Circus'.

'Blackout' skirts the line VERY successfully between pop/R&B/electro - probably because it was much more a product of the producers. It's not perfect, but it cuts out the crap that she seems otherwise obliged to include on her albums. how it sounds LESS cohesive I can't even fathom because even if you don't like it, it's consistent.

You don't even seem to come close to describing them as even that different, let alone spectrums apart there...

Sorry, what was the criteria you wanted? 'Blackout' is ACE, 'Circus' is SHITE. That's a pretty VAST chasm where I'm stood.

I know it's in your nature to be a contrary prick at the moment, but I don't even think the difference between the two is a matter of opinion. Undoubtedly the plan was to embrace the critical applause of 'Blackout', replicate it and include more of Britney in 'Circus'. But the final products is so lightweight, genre-chasing, try-hard and limp, it ends up almost the complete antithesis.

Surely you can think one thing is shit, and another is great and still see similarities.
Either way I love both, and I think they both tread very similar tracks.

Just because I don't agree with YOU it doesn't mean i'm contrary.
Either way it's totally irrelevant to this conversation.

You use these phrases but back them up with no evidence. The only song i'd apply any of those to is 'My Baby'.

Ok. 'If U Seek Amy' is a CHOICE example. It's such a blatant attempt to court controversy - regardless of the lack of promotion, ETC. it still could, and probably WOULD have been a bigger hit if it hadn't all been done before and much better. People just totally switched off.

Can she go back to being a POP artist please, maybe unearth a melody or two. I'm over this electro-bollocks now.

The trouble with Britney Spears songs is that they are leaked TOO early and there is too much hype early on. But obviously it would help if she bothered to promote too.

Lee you are 100% wrong about music (as usual.)

Slave is right on the money. Blackout and Circus have nothing in common.

She needs to start phoning in her vocals again. It's all about the cold delivery.

As I said to him. Explain. He couldn't come up with a single thing apart from 'one is shit'.

Erm, actually, he explained in detail how they are different. Do I really need to go over it again? Circus is more of your usual Britney album - some obvious singles, some 'risque' songs, all sitting alongside filler including the usual horrific Britney ballad ("My Baby"). And the music and production reflect that.

Blackout sounds nothing like any other Britney album. It's an album's album; sonically tight and extremely cohesive to the point of being almost claustrophobic. Again, like Slave said, it is probably to do with the producers than Britney.

But I don't think any of those points detract from the fact the the feel of the two is very similar. Similar producers, similar minute input, all electro-ish throwaway dance-pop. A few varying genres but nothing too out there.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Circus has loads of Gimme More/POM/Break The Ice.... part IIs. But it's all got a similar feel to it.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I CARE ENOUGH TO DISCUSS THIS.

I would say Circus is VERY different overall, There are elements of whta shes done on Blackout but its like theyve tried to couple it with old Britney and it came out as a horrid mess

It has just been confirmed that pop legend Britney Spears will release her seventh studio album in June 2010, not May like previously reported.

The singer wraps up her Australian tour tomorrow in Adelaide, and will then head straight back into the studio to work on the album, which will complete her current contract with Sony Music (Jive).

Other producers for the project include Darkchild, David Guetta, Fernando Garibay, and Danja.

The new album sounds like it’s going to be major. She established that she was still a major player in the game with Circus, so I expect the follow-up to take it to the next level.

In other news Britney just broke an attendance record at Sydney’s Acer Arena for her Circus tour, beating Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, and The Eagles by selling 66,247 tickets across four nights, which earned her a cool $10 million.
