It's already fallen off your number 1 all time list? Oh POP!![]()
So now I think 2008 albums are allowed in this forum...
It might not be my favorite album of all time anymore but I truly was astonished by it at the time, such a consistent and strong effort, a lot of the tracks already sounded like classics to me in 2008 and they still do. Even though the album sold loads, I wish they put a little more effort into the single campaigns after "Viva la Vida", too many phenomenal songs ("Lost!", "Strawberry Swing" for starters) were given muted releases and charted poorly.

Viva la Vida might very well be my favourite song EVER!
What's confusing? We just find the heart of the prison and the dragon who speaks without walls, and we're home free. Simple.
Amazing album. I do think that Coldplay are one of the few bands who consistently release fantastic album after fantastic album. There's no such thing as album tracks - they're pretty much all fantastic.
Viva la Vida, Lost! (and Lost?) and Violet Hill alone are enough to make this a 9.

Fantastic album and by far their best.
I really have come to rediscover Coldplay over the past 6 months or so. Now that it's OK again to like them I suppose. X&Y may be their most maligned album but I even love that now - it's my favourite album to put on when on a train journey for some reason.
After just listening to "Violet Hill", I'm pretty sure it was the best BUZZ SINGLE yet... and it was actually a genuine buzz track too.
LOVE IT
Seeing them live this year was amazing too.

Has Pop!'s brand new patented scientific method for rating albums failed him?
