    Sheryl Crow - Detours

I think we've covered every other Sheryl album, so...

anyway, I don't think this quite rates alongside her best moments, and a bit of a letdown after the hype over returning to her TNMC producer.

I mostly think the album lacks the big acoustic moment that all her other albums have (I Shall Believe, Difficult Kind, Wildflower, etc) but it's still a fun and interesting pop record that I enjoyed muchly at the time

    7.5 / 10, but I'll say an 8.

A bit of a let down considering the beauty that was Wildflower. But still not a bad album at all.

10 Shine Over Babylon (Hated it at first, but definatly a GROWER)
10 Love Is Free (Perfect choice for lead single, shame it didn't do well)
    06 Peace Be Upon Us
10 Gasoline (Best Song On The Album)
    08 Out Of Our Heads
    09 Detours
    09 Now That You're Gone
04 Drunk With The Thought Of You
    10 Diamond Ring
    04. Motivation
05 Make It Go Away (Radiation Song)
08 Love Is All There Is
    07 Lullaby For Wyatt

I haven't listened to this in a while but it's quite nice as a whole. A lot of the songs don't work as well on their own, though

09 Shine Over Babylon (I agree, a total grower, I love the way it builds and builds)
    06 Love Is Free
    07 Peace Be Upon Us
08 Gasoline (I'm surprised this wasn't a single, I bet she loves this track)
    09 Out Of Our Heads
    10 Detours
    08 Now That You're Gone
06 Drunk With The Thought Of You
    04 Diamond Ring
    06 Motivation
05 Make It Go Away (Radiation Song)

I was so disappointed at first but lately I've been combing the Sherly catalogue once again and I had this on on the way to work yesterday and it clicked with me. It's got hidden depths. The final verse of "Make It Go away" is CHILLING.

I've just listened to this in full. It's BRILLIANT. I can't review it on just one listen though. I even recognized one of them. Her voice really shines - she's an underrated singer.
Reflected onto the wet pavement, can you see what I see?

This is one Sherly album I know quite well and I love it. The preachiness gets on my nerves a bit and it's been a long time since I listened to the whole album from start to finish, but overall I like. I don't like the production on 'God Bless This Mess' though. I see what she was trying to do, but it just made me think I'd downloaded a dodgy copy when I very first listened to it.

    08 Shine Over Babylon
    08 Love Is Free
    08 Peace Be Upon Us

she is definitely one of the most underrated singers around yes. Having seen her live about 3 times now, I can hold testament to that.

what I love about this album is the variety of songs on offer; when I first got the album I was in love with the immediate anthems like "Out Of Our Heads", "Shine Over Babylon" etc, but as time has gone on I've realised how beautiful some of the understated tracks are. I mean there's nothing of the depth of "Difficult Kind" or "Wildflower", but tracks like "Rise Up" are great and in particular, my album favourite, "Detours", which is I think is one of her best songs.

I bet she would be amazing live. My friend forwarded me on an email but I poopooed it because I'd just been listening to 100 Miles To Memphis and it was SO BORING. I actually sort of wished I'd looked into it now.

oh DEFINITELY go and see her live. I saw the Memphis tour and it was great but yes, a little heavy on the Memphis tracks, of which there are some AMAZING tunes IMO but too many that just don't work well enough to stand up next to her catalogue.

Hopefully she'll tour again soon; she always refers back to her greatest hits when in between albums. Or maybe we'll just get another album

This thread has made me want to do a little Sherly marathon. I've never listened to Wildflower properly, and everyone seems to LOVE that so I should probably give that a listen too.

I used to really like this album but haven't listened to it for a while. I really like Lullaby For Wyatt, Diamond Ring, Shine Over Babylon, Peace Be Upon Us, Gasoline. I gave it a 7 overall.
