    Jennifer Lopez - Get Right

This was a NUMBER ONE HIT SINGLE.

It got played in the club I was in tonight which made me realise it isn't actually as utterly forgotten as I'd assumed. Polyhex tells me she had two further top ten hits, including a #2 but I don't think I ever heard them.

    VILE unlistenable Usher reject

Thank god the considerably more talented Amerie refused to give her "1 Thing" when the Cunt jumped on the Beyonce bandwagon and she had to make do with someone else's LEFTOVERS as per

A total swan song, I think the years and recent flops proved. I never loved it but it has a decent energy about it and is quite fun.

    FURTHER examples of her thievery

Waiting For Tonight was also a cover by the pop band of another far superior singer/songwriter, the FABULOUS Maria Christensen, one half of the amazing freestyle duo Sequal

Original before Celine and Rebekah Ryan covered it

And that's before we get into her use of Brandy outtakes and what she did to Mariah

She's one of the luckiest popstars in the world, how she's managed to last this long is beyond me although it is nice to see her trailing off massively now.

She's also lucky a snipers never took her out.

    It's her SPIRITUAL HOME

Although her first two singles remain ESSENTIAL. Shame about pretty much everything after that.

And I HATE her idea of a 'remix' *record totally different lyric, concept and song/tune altogether on top of some random sample and a grunting Ja Rule rap*

I only like Waiting For Tonight and All I Have.. If You Had My Love is passable but generic Jerkins

I don't think she's ever done anything ESSENTIAL in any medium

She is the living embodiment of mediocrity

Wasn't "If You Had My Love" a cover or am I confusing that with something else? And IIRC she stole "Play" from the lovely Christina Milian.

I find Jennifer Lopez absolutely ABHORRENT as a pop star. Entirely appalling, complete talent void and bar the first two singles and the Almighty Remix of "Ain't It Funny", almost COMPLETELY unlistenable. And I had that stance from DAY ONE, unlike many in this thread but I digress...

...the point I want to make is actually in her defence. I mean, why is she accused of "stealing" things from other people when QUITE CLEARLY the woman has absolutely SHIT ALL to do with her music career other than turning up and having her autotuned vocals laid down? I doubt VERY MUCH whether she'd heard or even considered or even KNEW half of the obscurities she is accused of ripping off, plagiarising or covering.
It's been too long, it's been too long...

and moreover, mocking her for it when so many of moopy's darlings do it all the time is slightly hypocritical...

I wanted to start a new thread for THIS because it is a reason to celebrate and I know a lamb or two will be happy about it but moopy is being a cunt and won't let me post it

Jennifer Lopez has spent most of her singing career at Sony Music Epic Records. The bland version of what happened, I’m told, is that the contract period had ended and that Lopez had fulfilled it with her last two singles, and that Lopez and Stringer decided together not to move forward with an album. Others insist the Sony label dropped her. There also is disagreement on how finished her upcoming album was before it was canceled. Internet reports say her 7th studio album, titled "Love?", was supposed to come out in April and featured production from Danja, Jim Jonsin, Darkchild, Chris n Teeb from Dropzone, and The Neptunes among others. A song from it titled "Fresh Out The Oven" surfaced online in October 2009 as a buzz single and reached #1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Songs chart. But the official lead single, "Louboutins", had its radio debut on November 23 following the song's premiere and performance at the 2009 American Music Awards and then peaked at #31 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.

Lopez insiders claim to me the album was "by no means done" and everyone was "only a few songs into it" and "unlike movie dates, street dates rarely hold in the music biz". But that album was real enough to delay the release of her upcoming CBS Film, The Back-Up Plan (see below). Others tell me the album isn't being released because "Louboutins" bombed, as did her performance at the American Music Awards, and Sony Music execs "aren't sure who her audience is anymore. Where once she had little girls, she's been supplanted by Beyonce, Gaga, and Rhianna. Lots of fighting going on between Benny Medina (who, of course, is spending their money like it's 10 years ago) and the label."

But when I began inquiring about this, her manager Benny Medina emailed this morning to confirm the split. "Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together."

The Lopez insiders claim the decision was "a mutual one" between the star and label’s current CEO Rob Stringer (younger brother to Sony parent company CEO Howard Stringer). They say the two had a meeting at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles during Grammy week, and, after a "heart-to-heart" conversation, the star and executive decided to end the long relationship. “It was all very amicable. They hugged at the end of the meeting,” claims one. Meanwhile, I understand that Sony will still be releasing her "Greatest Hits" album in the fall.

Supposedly, Lopez has not wasted any time getting signed elsewhere: it’s rumored she is already in talks with Island Def Jam’s bigwig L.A. Reid to come to his label. Granted, this is a tough time for music artists, especially those like Lopez who were once big in the biz and now are battling not only the changed economics and rampant piracy but also the moving target of today’s music fans. JLo insiders insist none of this is fazing Lopez, who took time off to have two kids with her recording star husband, Marc Anthony, and who is just now returning to her acting career with the release of the feature The Back Up Plan.

But CBS Films recently announced it's postponing the release of that romantic comedy to April 23rd, same weekend as Wall Street 2 and MacGruber. It had been scheduled for April 16th which then got too crowded. And before that January 22nd when it was to be the first CBS Film. Complicating The Back-Up Plan's release as well was that J-Lo/Sony album and exactly when she'd be available to do publicity for the film. Well, no one has to worry about that now.

Meanwhile, JLo is scheduled as both the musical guest and the host of Saturday Night Live next
weekend. But now she has no record and no movie to promote. Hmm.

I really regret saying this, but her new single "What Is Love?" is really good despite it ripping off the hook off Queen PSUEDO*-latina Nelly's "All Good Things".

*Note I use that term for Nelly after her poor Spanish at winning an award at Premio Los Nuestro.

Paulina's performance of "Ni Rosas Ni Jugetes" was really strong, and proves to me that she's not as shit a live vocalist as I originally thought.

The black & white effect I thought was really cool:

Nelly's hilarious acceptance speech. Oh Nelly, that's why I love her. She's so endearing - tricky Spanish & reading her acceptance speech off a Blackberry.

Nelly, the latinos will always love you just for being wacky.

Well I realise that, but she has actually has the GALL to refer to herself as an ARTIST and a SONGWRITER in interviews, and has the obligatory writing credits amongst the 12 listed for samples.

Was that song for the Enough movie? I quite liked that movie in a 'quiet afternoon in with nothing to do' sort of way.

Is that the Sleeping With The Enemy rip-off one she's beat up in? A must see. I love how she gets scripts that Julia Roberts would wipe her arse with.

As for the "song stealing", obviously I know it happens all the time in pop to some extent, just that few people know her first singles are covers. And I just have an irrational hatred towards her and Robbie Williams (Angels also was stolen which launched HIM onto the nation )

Puff Daddy got Jerkins to give him the track by the lovely Chante. The 3rd Party version of "Waiting Of Tonight" is very Eurodance and Max Martin-y I suppose, hers is better produced as it came later.

The song is atrocious probably her most offensive (yes more offensive than Jenny From The Block).

I never liked her, she had 2-3 singles that I tolerated mainly because they were played constantly but other than that she's one of the most usless popstars ever.

    grin

And VoR had great foresight cause she quite literally has been FLUSHED

JLo And Her Record Label Broke Up

Deadline Hollywood is saying that JLo's record label Sony Music Epic has dropped her on her fat ass. Here's the visual:

JLo's 7th album Love? was supposed to come out in April, but now that she's no longer with Sony that shit has been shoved to the back of the shelf to collect dust with copies of Shall We Dance and virgin bones gathered by Skeletor. JLo's manager Benny Medina confirmed the split, but said it was mutual:

"Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together."

The makers of auto-tune don't need to cross JLo off their Christmas card list just yet, because her rep said that she's currently in negotiations with a different label.

JLo's movie The Back-Up Plan has also been pushed to April 23rd.

Despite not having a movie or album to promote, JLo will still be the host and musical guest on SNL this weekend.

So let me this finger this gently for a second. Lorne Michaels is letting JLo do double duty on SNL, yet he refuses to give the legendary Betty White her own show?! What in the how?! I mean, Betty White has a permanent place at top of the ladder of relevancy, while JLo is flat on her ass at the bottom. Somebody grab Lorne's hand and lead him out of 2001.

Say what you like about J to tha motherfucking LO, but you cannot take away from her that she is responisble for one of the GREATEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN -

(does she even sing on the chorus)

Despite her singles being about 85% ROT I am quite looking forward to buying her Greatest Hits for £3 in Fopp. Her first two, I'm Gonna Be Alright, I'm Glad and Hold It DONT DROP IT were all more than acceptable.
