I think the Master System (with built-in Alex The Kidd?) was my first Sega console.

This game was better than it had any right to be:

My Master System had Sonic 1 built in. I remember being jealous of a friend who had a Mega Drive whilst I still had the Master System. Memories.

Last time I was in Brussels I found an old 'retro games' shop full of original Master Systems. These ones:

I wanted to buy one but couldn't face the hassle of trying to get it in my luggage etc. I have an emulator for it on my PSP, but it's NOT THE SAME

Yes, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is one of the best games ever made IMO. Still so much fun to play.

    have you seen these?

Was largely RUBBISH once the Mega Drive version introduced the spin dash (and stuck with the annoying concept of hiding the emeralds in the levels) but here it is being played by an excitable gamer:

I'm glad he points out my least favourite thing about this game - Tails is kidnapped and Sonic is chasing Robotnik to rescue him...except Tails appears in the title card for each level

Totally OT, but I didn't realise there was a Super Fantasy Zone on the Genesis/Mega Drive

Edit: wow it has good music too

I always appreciated how the Sonic games for Master System weren't just cut-down versions of the Mega Drive ones, and actually had unique levels etc. That's the sort of EFFORT you don't see these days, well not from Sega ANYWAY

The Game Gear got some interesting spin-offs as well - Tails Skypatrol, Tails Adventure. Not particularly GREAT all the same, but yes, better effort than just straight ports.

I would've eaten those games up if I'd known, I was oddly OBSESSED with Tails when I was a kid. Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, it's a miracle I didn't end up becoming a FURRY

Tails Sky Patrol actually introduced the concept of the player holding onto a ring to interact with the environment which was later integral to Knuckles: Chaotix (which I've still never played )

I used to draw pictures of Sonic and the gang all the time and stick them around my bedroom god knows where I would have ended up

I'm tempted to search Google and see what TRAVESTIES there are in the interweb

    Oh dear LORD

Tails is only like 2 years old isn't he? That's one of the many things wrong with that

So I'm looking at this at work...

... and all I can say is that I wouldn't be surprised if those images turned Diddy on.

I feel there's a GAP in the market for some Knuckles/Tails fanfic.

Not that I'm actively searching mind.

I'm sure you got hot and bothered looking for Lara Croft Naked cheats back in the DAY, or some fiercely hetero pastime

Thanks for that, what a nightmarish place. I remember reading about some other Sonic-obsessed girl a few years ago who got pregnant and called the baby "Yujinaka" - what is it about Sonic that DOES this to people?

Ah, Alex Kidd... Am I remembering correctly that some boss battles consisted of a game of Paper, Scissors, Rock? Yes, luck rather than skill!

Yes, they were complete chance. Who says it's only recently that games have become more realistic.
