    Sarah Jane Adventures: Series 4

We excited yet kiddywinks? Hoping this can make up for a rather disappointing Doctor Who season. Apparently coming back on 11th October

This looks like all we have at the moment:

    Copied and pasted from Wikipedia:
A fourth series was commissioned for transmission in the Autumn. The series will again consist of twelve 25-minute episodes.

Phil Ford, Rupert Laight and Joseph Lidster, will write episodes. Gareth Roberts will be writing two stories - one on his own and another with Clayton Hickman (former editor of Doctor Who Magazine).[16]

Matt Smith will guest star as the Eleventh Doctor in episodes 5 and 6, along with Katy Manning, who will be reprising her role as the Third Doctor's companion Jo Grant. The story will be written by former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies, the first time he has written for the Eleventh Doctor. It will also include the show's first visit to an alien planet.[17]

In this series, Luke Smith will go to Oxford University, and K-9 will go with him.[

HOORAY at the Luke and K9 demise. Now just get rid of Rani and stop giving Clyde SHIT wisecracks at inappropriate moments and everything will be fine

I didn't bother with all of last year's because it did start to feel like JUST a (very good) children's show, which is fine because is IS a children's show, but for me other years always had an story or two that were just good telly. This year is infinitely more promising with that news, and the fact that Russell T Davies is writing a whole story, with Jo Grant and Matt Smith. There is a clip -

Sadly the aliens seem to be from the planet Budget Cut, but that looks so fabulously camp.

Also diddy, it's series 4. Get america's cock from your mouth

    mad

Has anybody been watching? I tried episode one but only managed half of it. I really can't be doing with the kids in this show now, they drag everything down by being phenomenally shit (imo). Poor Sarah Jane, she must secretly wish she could get friends her own age.

It's not aimed at old husks like me though, so i think i'll part ways unless it's written by RTD and/or features my actual hero the 11th Doctor, which omg just so happens to be next weeks two parter -

THAT is what this show should be about. Camp old ladies. And AMBER from Footballers Wives (herself a camp old lady) is also in it!

Also it appears Luke has left, so maybe his replacement will be good. I wish they'd just bring back Kelsey from the pilot. She might no longer be too much of a bitch to work with.

I watched last weeks, it was all a bit twee ("nobody can stop us when we have EACH OTHER!") but had some fabulous moments like Sarah Jane as a mad old bat with an old-lady scooter. The villain was quite good as well I thought, played by the bloke who did the most recent version of Davros - I could see kids finding him VERY creepy. It felt like the right time for Luke to leave - I'm not sure what else they could do with him, and I thought with a few stories last year you could really see them struggling to give everyone something to do. I'll miss K9 and Mr Smith bitching at each other though

Oh yeah, apparently there'll not be a permanent replacement for Luke - instead each of the forthcoming stories will have their own 'extra companion' type character. I'm sure the maladjusted SJA 'shippers' over on Gallifrey Base will be CREAMING their JEANS at that prospect

Back to iplayer i go then

I wonder if the replacement for Luke will always be a teen. Hopefully not. i'd like them to take the "LESS KIDS, MORE FLOELLA BENJAMIN" approach.

I only watched the first episodes because I was dead bored as a result of BT deciding I wasn't worthy of having internet access. But they were really rather good. Luke leaving = great news, what a pathetic little twat. Old Sarah Jane bitching at Clyde about being useless was brilliant though, more of that kind of thing please people who make this.

The fact they didn't do anything to 'age up' or embellish Lis Sladen's mysteriously UNLINED face made it even better

They just stuck a white/grey wig on, shoved her in a wheelchair and told her to do an old lady voice. Fabulous

Bloody god NO THANKS. Though i think K9 has mainly gone to Oxford to avoid more legal issues now that the inexplicable K9 show has started up in Australia.

Anyway, after my griping i still watched the first part of story 2 and thought it was GREAT FUN. The difference when Luke fucks off and the other kids take a back seat is quite noticeable. I hope the plank of wood that is Rani has to go off and do real life exams next* (i quite like Clyde still, gash wisecracks aside).

    Ooh -

He's blatantly not popping up until the cliffhanger, but it looks like there's plenty to be getting on with.

Bad luck TP, the one who plays Rani is about 20 in real life now. I think they did it on purpose after the hassle they had with Maria (and now Luke); silly children wanting an education when they could be STARS instead

Thankfully Clyde is about 24 in real life, which means I've been able to at him ever since series ONE.

I've just watched this week's story, YAY for the return of Androvax and Sarah Jane's AMAZING possessed acting (which was one of my camp TV highlights of 2009, or EVER really). At first I thought they wouldn't do it again because he kept possessing pretty much everyone else, but part two DIDN'T disappoint in that regard

EDIT: I can't believe Youtube don't have a highlights clip of when she was possessed before (I've half a mind to make one MYSELF), but there's a good chunk of it here:

"My gran once handcuffed herself to Robert Mugabe"

AMAZING EPISODE! Though i was quite outraged at how (a) none of them wore black and (b) they all CHATTED away through the doctors funeral.

I already want more of Jo Grant. Can't it be The Sarah Jane and Jo Adventures next year? Twould be fabulous. I liked the Shansheeth too, as shoddy as they were from a lot of angles. As well as the above line my favourite part was where Jo told Sarah she looked beautiful, and Sarah did not return the compliment. I also thought Liz Sladen's acting was proper good in the sad bits.

    P.S. piss off Luke

    P.P.S. I LOVE YOU 11TH DOCTOR

God i really really loved this. Best SJA episode since series 1 with the evil Nuns and their getaway hearse. This show works wonderfully well when it's more campery than kiddy sci-fi

I so hope RTD writes a Doctor Who episode this year. Due to the lack of discussion on here (seriously kids GET ON THIS TWO PARTER) i went to Gallifrey Base* where i found this post which really made me realise how Davies was so much more imaginative in a fun way when it came to monsters especially -

In his first season SM gave us Prisoner Zero, Atraxi, Space Whale, Smilers, Winders, Iron Side Daleks, New Daleks, More powerful Weeping Angles, Saturnine (aka Fish Vampires), Dream Lord (The Doctor's dark side), Alien infected elderly, New species of Silurian, the Van Gogh chicken monster, the almost Tardis in the Lodger, The Alliance (made up of previously seen races), Stone Dalek, Roman Autons and of course The Crack.

RTD's first season was a wild explosion of crazy, fun ideas. SM's first season saw a lot of revisited ideas or slight tweaks to established concepts.

    * i also found out that rumours of Sild's death have been greatly exaggerated

The promotion for this is reaching FEVER PITCH levels in my office. I've only seen the first episode but it was quite good, although I thought Katy Manning anally raped Liz Sladen actingwise in all their scenes together.

His name is Iain and the dog's name is Hacker - I work with them and they are genuinely very funny, the guy who does Hacker specially.

Hacker is AMAZING. Although not so much anymore, they haven't been doing quite so many ridiculous celebrity parodides of recent, his parody of Whitney on the X Factor last year was PRICELESS.

Hacker is more expressive than most humans. I swear he rolled his eyes and shrugged earlier. It makes me a bit sad that i was stuck with that cunt Otis the Aardvark back when i were a lad.

I am less keen on the rubbish boy who went to meet Sarah Jane in all those unfunny sketches though. FIRE HIM PEEKABOO, give his segments to Hacker.

He did Sarah Jane and Tracy Beaker today (not as cool as Whitney I know)

Oucho the cacti (the previous successful CBBC mascot) did a lot of Dolly Parton impressions as the puppeteer was a big fan of hers.

He's not me He's a very nice fella but yeah you're right he's not a patch on Iain. He's a massive Doctor Who fan though, that's probably why he got to do all that Sarah Jane stuff.

These are the first two SJA programmes I've watched all the way through. Not really my thing but both were a harmless piece of fun and enjoyable in their own way. I don't think I could ever get into watching it on a regular basis though.

Did anyone see today's? I thought it was RATHER GOOD, but I'm a sucker for stuff set in a deserted city. It reminded me a bit of Survivors, but without Julie Graham shrieking about PETER every five seconds in her usual BAFTA-worthy way

I was going to, but the fact that it was ALL Rani and Clyde made me worry that it would undo all of last week's great work. Gareth Roberts wrote it though so i might give it a go at some point.

What did you think of The Death of the Doctor? You're a proper old school fan aren't you? (i am assuming from your posts)
