To be eligible a character had to be on the current characters section of the EE website/wikipedia (and definitely not a no show for 2011 - i.e. Stacey). I also added AUNT SAL and MERCY'S NAN (who aren't there but will blates pop up at some point), and Connor, who seemingly JUST WONT FLUSH. Oh and it would not be Eastenders without TRACY, hence her being there too.

06 Bobby Beale - he's good for a cute kid actor who pops up once in a blue moon but those giving EIGHTS need to CHECK THEMSELVES!
09 Ian Beale - has many facets from desperate pathetic loser to utterly hateful boss, stopping off at ridiculously stupid husband and father en route. And it makes great telly.
09 Jane Beale - you really do have to love a tryer and Jane ALWAYS tries - to be a mother, a wife, a tireless worker. And when most of the female middle cast is trim and glamourous it's nice to have somebody a tiny bit frumpy n' lumpy in there. She's like a less sociopathic version of my mother.
07 Peter Beale - i thought he became highly watchable over the course of this year and I really DO LIKE that there was somebody decent and concerned about the sheer level of immorality on the Square. But he won't leave a hole in the show.
07 Lucy Beale - i don't care what Moopy thinks, I always liked her and thought Melissa was very capable. I eagerly await the recast (if it's still happening).
05 Christian Clarke - excrutiating during his emotional scenes. He is truly a terrible actor AND has been tarred by the fact that all I can see when he is on screen is Johnny Patridge RAVING to the Dorothys' megamix on Over The Rainbow. The horror...
07 Abi Branning - has become thoroughly decent this year and has really benefitted from the addition of Darren into the Branning family dynamic.
10 Dot Branning - THE face of EastEnders. I really like her relationship with Fatboy.
07 Jack Branning - never did think he was especially awful. He's a pleasant enough supporting character.
00 Jim Branning - i feel bad but he's LESS than a spare part nowadays.
06 Lauren Branning - the new one on occasion makes for decent TV but mostly just walks around with a face like a slapped arse. But then she IS the daughter of Max I guess.
CINDY BEALE MEMORIAL SPECIAL (13) Max Branning - i don't even know how to put into words quite how much I love him. He is rarely predictable, always intense (I love how he invades everybody's personal space - you never know if he's going to twat somebody or lick them) and I never fail to feel for him when one of the many women in his life treats him like shit.
11 Ronnie Branning - i love her and I live for her. And I feel that she's just about to cement her status as the ultimate tragic heroine with this New Year storyline. Could she dethrone Sharon even? I'm not RULING IT OUT!
10 Tanya Branning - true QoL. FABULOUSLY bitter about Max and I'm certain she has self esteem issues because she does a LOT of comfort eating and binge drinking. I'd love to be her friend... or just BE HER.
09 Bianca Butcher - highly underrated. Patsy is great at emotional stuff and absolutely STOLE THE SHOW during the Tony/Whitney abuse reveal. Slightly underused since then but still a legend.
10 Janine Butcher - has returned to her status as the TRUE HBIC (Head Bitch In Charge) this year - PEAKING with stabbing herself in the name of revenge. Truly a sociopathic MESS and it makes the most fabulous telly.
00 Liam Butcher - can't stand. Utter LOSER. So is Ricky but at least Ricky managed to bag Bianca. All Liam will EVER be bagging is shopping at Lidl.
06 Ricky Butcher - very hard to get excited about but solidly dependable and he does have chemistry with his family unit.
10 Pat Evans - this year has been the year I've 'got' Pat. Previously I wasn't really sure why she was considered a legend but I absolutely love her now. And I LOVE how everybody goes to her for advice - WHY WOULD YOU?!
10 Carol Jackson - love. She's fitted in so effortlessly.
08 Connor - I am LITERALLY the only one but I actually really like him! He can act and he has chemistry with Carol. The story with Whitney was SHIT but that's not his fault.
04 Morgan Jackson-King - seems decent enough as the token 'cute' young child, even if Bobby Beale has that market sewn up already.
08 Ryan Malloy - there's SOMETHING about him. I'm not sure what it is given that he can barely act and isn't even my cup of tea in terms of sex appeal. And YET I don't get bored by him.
06 Tiffany Dean - cute! And showing slight signs of progression beyond just 'cute loud kid' recently.
05 Whitney Dean - she PEAKED early on, although I am beginning to wonder whether the Tony storyline was so well handled that it just made her SEEM like a stronger character/actress than she was. Now nothing but a whingebag.
09 Denise Johnson - such a STRONG personality. I wish she was given more to do.
08 Kim Fox - highly promising for a newcomer and I think she has potential beyond the comedy black whore with huge knockers.
FERREIRA (-3) Jordan Johnson - Monstrous. I hope he's gone for good.
09 Masood Ahmed - thoroughly likeable and a much more well rounded character since Syed arrived and he got the chance to show off his chops.
06 Syed Masood - personality free. Only scores 6 off the back of being a good character by association, since he's always by Christian's side.
08 Tamwar Masood - great at the comedy. Hopefully not far off being able to handle a decent storyline of his own without relying on Zainab muscling in.
10 Zainab Masood - a modern day icon. I think it's amazing that she's so likeable given that she's SO horrible.

08 Roxy Mitchell - I like her but her motiviations always seem confused and she needs some serious characterization because she's beginning to feel like a spare part. Oh and she needs a MAN, PRONTO.

07 Alfie Moon - overshadowed by Kat in every respect but still likeable and a nice means of bringing her down to Earth every now and then.
10 Kat Moon - lights up every scene. Has fitted in GLORIOUSLY which I wouldn't have thought likely six months back.
04 Michael Moon - during his short stint he was rather wooden, a bit pointless and nothing more than a plot device. Does he have to come back?

06 Charlie Slater - Well, at least he's not as boring as Alan Turner from Emmerdale.
09 Jean Slater - believable, sympathetic, stunningly acted. I just hope her return next year isn't a damp squid without Stacey to fuss over.

08 Darren Miller - some serious LIFE has been injected into the character after pairing him up with Max. A genius decision.
