Poor boy Peter,
didn't know how,
to claim his miracle,
lost his way
No man deserves that. And REALLY how was he to know that Bananarama, Alphabeat, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor weren't to make any money?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...I was only listening to "Viva Bananarama" (let's face it, that SHOULD be it's title...) and wondering if they still had a deal
BAH
It's been too long, it's been too long...
I like to think my Nanas have brought down two record labels with their last two albums (even though Viva probably cost Fascination a crate of vodka and a bag of poppers).
Album clips here (Bextor not Bananas). Sounds very pleasing all in all. I'm liking the sound of Magic and Synchronised especially - Homewrecker not so much.
Poor Sophie should know better than to read about herself on forums full of vitriolic gays who are only brave and outspoken when sat at a keyboard. Anyhoo, really looking forward to this album - hope it's profitable for her to do it this way.
Starlight sounds a bit generic.![]()
Exactly, when has generic ever bothered Jonathan before![]()
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
Now i definitely found Starlight on youtube to give it a spin, and i definitely pressed play, but i can't remember a THING about it.
This was only 5 minutes ago as well. I'll play it again but the tunes don't really seem to be Trip The Light FANTASTIC this time around![]()
And people say Gaga's stuff is DERIVATIVE!
Music brought to you by the PINK POUND SHOP!
FEARLESS FEMALE
I hope Kaushik kills you both in your sleep.
I forgot how much I love Bittersweet actually. Great song.
Revolution sounds very good
I even like the sound of Off & On... I hated it when I last heard it
I think Starlight is quite lovely but unfortunately it just isn't very memorable so not exactly a great single choice
Make A Scene sounds REALLY SHIT
Magic a bit boring
Dial My Number should be a LATE HIGHLIGHTa welcome splash of variety there.
Homewrecker sounds AMAZING.
Synchronised sounds gorgeous
Cut Straight to the Heart seems okay
Overall MY FAITH HAS BEEN RESTORED although I think it's apparent that the album is lacking in the pop sensibility that Trip brought to the table - this is pretty much just out-and-out disco and some of the beats seem a little monotonous but I'm sure I can cope with that. And mercifully that fuck awful Heartbreak is basically the worst thing on there.

where is it? is it snippets you've heard or has the album leaked?
Based on the clips this doesn't like it's going to be another Trip The Light, which is to be expected I guess given how great it is. I like the sound of most of the tracks though so I'm hoping there's no proper duds.
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
WHAT SORT OF ALBUM DOES NOT LEAK ON IT'S RELEASE DAY?
This is a rhetorical question to the many haterz BTW.
I hate the album cover. It isn't even redeemed by having Sophie, Queen of Can't Be Arsed on the cover, particularly when all her album covers and titles have been knowingly. This looks distinctly Poundland, it's inevitible market.
I like the clips in a no-one-will-buy-this kind of way, it doesn't promise to be a BLUE PETER classic, but beyond my minor gripes, I can't complain about more Sophie.
Even 2025's pushing it. Sophie's still using dial-up and every time the Sky man is scheduled to come round she cancels and retorts to her snug for a 'Sophie day'.
I don't know what to chuckle at more, that fake cover or the fact someone bothered to make it!(which surely required more effort and execution than this album 'project' as a whole)
Hey go get the doctor
Doctor came too late...
Amazon says it's released on 6th June.

Kaushik has begun a petition for a b-side to Starlight - click - I've signed but I can't help but feel he's pushing his luck![]()
I can just imagine him compiling that b-side list in a sweaty basement somewhere in the breakaway region of South Ossetia.
NO PRESSURE SOPH
What's confusing? We just find the heart of the prison and the dragon who speaks without walls, and we're home free. Simple.
Where can we find this?

IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE! OH MY FUCKING GOD IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!
NATURALLY my internet connection is slow as fuck tonight. I like to think it's in tribute to Sophie.
06 Revolution - quite annoying
10 Bittersweet
08 Off & On - far better than I'd remembered. Verses very nothingy but that chorus is a delight
06 Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)
09 Not Giving Up On Love - that post-chorus is absolute GLORY
06 Can't Fight This Feeling - okay but the chorus is a massive non-event
07 Starlight
06 Under Your Touch
05 Make A Scene - Well... at least it's different (?!?!)
06 Magic - I imagine this would be the soundtrack to a SOPHIE COMA
08 Dial My Number - something of interest at last!
06 Homewrecker
09 Synchronised - absolutely LOVELY
08 Cut Straight To The Heart
I love that this album has already spawned FIVE SINGLESSadly however most of it is extremely faceless, rather cold and monotonous, and basically sounds like Sophie on autopilot. There's pretty much none of the character of Trip The Light here.
That said the last two songs are evidence of why she should STICK TO POP - they have so much more melody than pretty much the rest of the album combined and her vocals really do shine on something a little WARMER than the parade of chilly disco numbers.

Anything positive I feel towards Sophie Ellis-Bextor really is about 5% her/the music and 95% this thread.
