Ways to get Cheap Theatre Tickets?

    Hi everyone,

I am just doing some research into this topic, and wondered if you could help? Are there any ways to get cheap tickets to a London theatre show? Are there any student/senior citizen discounts around, or are any dates cheaper/more expensive than others? Are matinees generally cheaper than evening performances? Any ideas are welome!

    Thanks

Most theatres do discounts if you give a staff member a peck on the cheek. The more intrusive the physical contact, the lower the price.

If you're under 26 there's a few BARGAINS to be had. The Young Vic do 10 pound tickets, and the royal court now do 8 pound ones on certain days of the week (possibly just the two matinees). Also the national have sort of club thing that i really should join before time turns and makes me older. Oh and the Old Vic do front row for £12, but you have to call them. There was also the A Night Less Ordinary Scheme but i think that's now been stopped.

If you're over 26 then i think the national still have ten pound tickets for things, and then there's day seats for there and all the big private theatres. dUb's idea gave him crabs.

^ Thanks for your reply! It was helpful

I am currently putting a website together detailing all of the info I collect about getting cheap theatre tickets. So far, I have only written the info for Students/Under 26.

    http://www.londontheatreticketscheap.com/

What do you make of the info and do you think I need to add anything else? Thanks!

I'd suggest just turning up to one of the ticket agencies in Leicester Square during the day on Monday - Thursday. Evening performances and weekends are always more expensive! Agencies like Leicester Square Box Office have different prices for different days.

I think they brought them into play the same fucking time I turned 26. And I went to the theatre the most often at 25-ish paying full fucking price. I deserve some concessions.
