i'll do an assortment of Syrian stuff...

First Lena Chamamyan, she takes classic Syrian songs and mixes them with Jazz.

On the other side of the spectrum, a very trashy song but it was a huge hit about two years ago (this is what's known as truck drivers music around here).

Not forgetting one of the most successful Syrian pop singers Asala Nasri who is also one of the most cringe worthy....

i'll add some more classic Syrian stuff later.

I liked the Sabah Fakhri stuff.

I also liked that Sabali song, Mats. I have found out that it is by Amadou & Mariam. Isn't Manu Chao from France, though?

I've also realised that I have already ticked off Senegal thanks to Akon (yeah I know ) appearing on Sexy Bitch. I never knew MC Solaar was from Senegal.

He would count. But I'm insisting on actually LIKING at least one song by each artist. I don't like anything he's done either solo or with the Equals.

Well if you're going to make it THAT hard on yourself...

Apparently the drummer of Ian Dury and the Blockheads is (was?) Guyanese as well, if that's any use.

I presume you are keeping away from Eurovision, I'm sure we could find SOMETHING from San Marino there?

As I have already SAID, I am NOT keeping away from Eurovision. ALSO, there was only one band to ever represent San Marino to be from San Marino and they were SHIT.

Sao Tome and Principe was hard but not that hard. The portguese influence helped.

I have discounted the Pope as no Pope has actually been born inside the country. Instead I've gone for a 16th century composer who was born in what was then the Papal States but is modern day Italy.
