Are you trying for 2012 Olympics tickets?
Apparently the lottery thing to get tickets opens today.
Are you going to try for anything? VOTE NOW / when you've made up your mind. Apparently there's a six week period to do it.
And if yes - what events?
YES!

I WILL GET REAL GRIMEY. I WILL START CUTTIN' UP CLOTHES.
But of course, I'll be trying for a couple of major events, a couple of obscure ones and the dress rehearsal of the opening ceremony (if available though).
It's a bit of a shit system, though I'm glad they've introduced a ballot rather than a first come/first served operation.
And don't forget, you have to pay for every ticket you "win" and can't put it back on their secondary market until early next year.
Plus they DEDUCT THE MONEY before telling you which events you've got tickets for which is a bit RUM to say the LEAST.
you could go to MANCHESTER?
anyway, i am broadly considering it.
Apparently there's no bias if you buy now or at the end of the period as to whether you get tickets or not, so plenty of time to have a think
I already did, for about 5 sports.
You are a depraved bird of hate, get out of my sight!
You see i find sport the most BORING THING EVER, especially if you're not even doing it yourself, so i won't be wanting any of the proper events.
I think we're trying for the opening and closing ceremonies though, since i've always loved those. One or both of these will surely feature Heather Small singing Proud with Brian May on lead guitar, and i guess there's next to no chance of getting tickets, but whatever. It'll be ONE to TELL the GRANDKIDS
I'd rather we weren't having the olympics to be honest, but if we do have to have some sort of money-draining TRIBAL event i'm happy it's this and not the world cup.
edit: THANKS MODERATOR!

Why would you rather not have the Olympics? It's going to be a right old KNEES UP and there will be plenty of positives flowing back to the community at large because of it.
Plus we finally get a 24 HOUR TUBE
(for 16 days)
I really want to take the kids to see something but i think they would be bored shitless after half an hour.
Nina Nannar knits knickers in Neasdon
Please buy my stuff, I do crazy bag discount
I do hope TP realises that the opening ceremony goes on for HOURS and consists in the main of athletes WALING ROUND IN A CIRCLE
Plus it will contain traces of Heather CUNTING Small, Leona Lewis (for sure), Adele (you just KNOW it).
I bloody love Leona and Adele! And i've always liked the opening ceremonies. The wandering round with flags is always a bit bleh i agree, but i'm always up for fireworks and silly set pieces. And Danny Boyle's in charge this time, and i love him. Even if he might not be able to match up to the might of MOTHER CHINA
And i'm not massively anti the olympics or anything, because i'm sure they'll be GOOD for MORALE, but they've already diverted lots of cash away from things i like, and i'm sure they'll make London into more of an overpriced overcrowded HELL HOLE, definitely in the short run and probably in the long run. And could the 13 Billion its apparently cost not have been spent on better things? I genuinely don't know for sure and am not pretending to be MASSIVELY INFORMED, but when lots and lots of people are up shit creek without a paddle right now it doesn't sit entirely well with me (even if it was all given the go ahead in happier times).
Ultimately though i just don't really get the Olympics, so am always going to find them a bit of a drag anyway. I can cope if everyone else enjoys it though.

Swimming doesn't have very long sittings (about four hours I think).
I'm sitting down with my dad tonight to put our names down for something. We never do anything together, so I'm hoping we get tickets for that reason, and because it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and we wouldn't have to fork out for accommodation, so WHY NOT?
Dad's already said he wants to put our name down for cycling which is probably right at the bottom of my list of preferences. He'll also want to get the cheapest seat possible, so there'll definitely have be some negotiation somewhere.
I want track and field for sure. There's always stuff going on in the middle more or less simultaenously, especially when it's in the early heat stages. And it's a hell lot more exciting than CYCLING.I'd also quite like to see badminton.

Is it the MADISON where the cyclists go round and round in some sort of WALL OF DEATH? Now that's one i really did enjoy during the Beijing games. I might look into that.
Would you like to go with my Dad?
Some of the athletics pricing options are shockingly high but I think it would just be great o be part of the atmosphere, even with a relatively cheaper ticket. I've applied for several events. Athletics and tennis would be first choices.
We spoke about it for about 5 minutes before he went off to the gym. Would you be interested in going to HARLOW to watch MOUNTAIN BIKING?('cos I sure as hell ain't!
)
Gymnastics for me please
I'll probably try for tickets, but I'll not be too fussed if I don't get any (not with GLASGOW 2014 just around the corner)

I (my dad) bought some tickets! I didn't realise how much of a 'lad' he is. He wanted BMXing and Boxing which is probably the LAST thing I want to see. We also put our name down for three athletics sessions, a badminton day and... something else. I think there were 8 in all. I pray we don't win them all or we may well have to sell the house.![]()
well I'm a bit PISSED OFF! I didn't realise you could only do one session per visa and I wanted to apply for more than one event. ARGH!
I did one of the athletics events. I think it was the Men's 100M final!expensive so I chose the cheaper seats. I wanted to see some tennis
oh well.
I want to go to the silly events like Boxing, Beach Volleyball and Weightlifting
balls to Athletics.
Oh I see. That does seem rather silly. You have an account and a log in, so you'd think it'd be pretty simple to go back and add an event to your account?
I tried, it says "you have already submitted your application"
BALLS!
I guess it's one way of keeping applications down, and keeping them simplified. There's going to be millions! It still does seem really unfair though. I had no idea - it wasn't clear on the website that you had to book all your events in one sitting.

nope. And they make it very difficult to contact them about it. FAQ galore. I imagine there'll be complaints. I did try and go back while I was still in process but didn't know how to, hence my submitting the ticket application for athletics not realising I was submitting my entire application.
Just have more visa cards, kids.
I have three.![]()
What did everybody go for? I'm panic buying as we speak

I only went for Opening Ceremony. I can sort of afford it and all actual other events would bore me just a little bit. I know it's the one MOST PEOPLE have gone for...
I don't see the point of even attempting to get tickets for the Olympics when the best possible view you can get of them would be from the comfort of your own living room.
I've applied for
Rhythmic gymnastics
Men's diving
Tennis
I wish had gone for DIVING. It always looks so pretty and famousmales forums.
I've gone for diving (Matthew Mitcham vs. Tom Daley), BMX, and men's proper gymnastics.
Also opening ceremony and 100m sprint but they're long shots.
