Lady Edith owns this series.
Oh WHAT AN END!
Well that was a bit of a FILLER EPISODE. But the impending LORD GRANTHAM AFFAIR TEASE looks OVERDUE.
I thought it was a great episode, lots of little things moving along, not least the death of the underused Mrs. Bates (whodunnit). I loved the Cora/Violet tagteam too, that was nice comic relief and poor unfeeling Cora excelled at having to do EMOTION.
Very glad they didn't bring Matthew back to health quite yet, it's obviously going to happen but it would have been ridiculous for it to happen ONE EPISODE later.

I was a bit OH NOES! DOWNTON'S GONE OFF THE BOIL for twenty minutes or so, but then i thought it got very good (that seems to be becoming a running theme this year). Althoughat the ending. Mrs Bates, we hardly knew you.
And POOR Edith. She couldn't even keep a man with fourth degree burns.

I wonder where Matthew will feel a twinge next?
What happened to the burns man? I missed that bit.

He left to start a new life in a Parisian opera house![]()
I did think the fact he arrived and left in the same episode was a bit crap, but then that's how things seem to happen in Downton these days.

Also, did anyone else think the burns victim looked like Max Headroom?
JUST A PASSING THOUGHT.
I really like this show, I think Mary is a great character.
Graham Norton was in The Mirror having a go at this today. I don't like him. He was moaning about the use of "As If" and "Victim" - it's 60s thing apparently. Hasn't Downton always been a modern show set in the olden days because everyones likes the olden days? I mean Thomas was going to York Pride in the first series and no one cared then.

I'm frightfully worried about this spanish flu. Is someone going to DIE?
Good episode tonight i thought. I'm really pleased the war is over. And POOR Thomas.
If Cora dies I will stop watching.

I hope Cora dies, what a bitch.
None of the characters seem to have been overly bitchy in series 2. I want cunty Mary to make a triumphant return.

Would anybody REALLY notice much difference if Cora DID die? She's shown all the key signs of rigamortis for two series now. it's why we love her.
Just get a footman to prop her up in a new room every now and then and it'd be business as usual.
I have just stumbled across spoilers for the next episode.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!
OOh I hope we get to see a Downton wedding so I can compare it to my own.

Next weeks looks TOO HARROWING![]()

Your wedding did sound like quite the event, percy. I was sorry to miss it.
This week i'm expecting the Flu to kill LAVINIA and possibly Thomas (). Just because the first needs to die (i'm guessing Richard Carlisle has got another series in him) and the second one doesn't have much reason to stay at Downton now, UNLESS now he's poor he's desperate to be a Footman again and can somehow bribe his way back in.
I know there's a shortage of menfolk, but he did steal from the house at the end of series one so i guess he'll need some trickery to get back working there. I do hope this happens, even though i'm not really fancying him this year because i don't think he carries the extra weight too well (no offense Thomas).

I really did feel for Thomas when he realised he'd bought some plaster of paris. Life over.
It was a good episode I thought. I loved all the mentions of Places Quite Near To Me - Maryport and Gretna Green![]()

I get this every week with Downton. It is quite brilliant, but I feel a trip to Ripon has become as passé for Lady Mary as it did for me.Originally Posted by PercyPig
