Is anyone else finding the dubbing on this week's episode wrong or is it just my TV?
The more Penelope Wilton the better.

Slightly weird feel to the episode thus far. It's all a bit 1917.
Thomas FLIRTING with the HOT BLIND SOLDIER is EROGENOUS.

I want Lieutenant Hot.
DAMN.
I would lick up Thomas' tears.
Not the MOST SCINTILATING EPISODE, however the exchange between the Dowager Countess and Miss Moneypenny was FABULOUS.
Well I missed last week's but it's still MUCH OF THE SAME isn't it?
I just read a review of it that called it HOWARD'S WAY MASQUERADING AS HOWARDS END which I think HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD
And oh...
Oh HOW MANY YEARS
Is it NOW Maurice?
YEAH
After last week's was possibly my FAVOURITE EVER this week's was probably a contender for my least, but that's still no terrible thing innit. Thomas' Hot Blind Soldier was a joy and taken too soon (add his name to the MR PAMUK MEMORIAL), and i liked the stuff about Mrs Patmore's poor nephew, and O'Brien having a heart. Everything else felt a BIT ODD to me though.
It felt deliberate to give it a feel of the time.
Oh I enjoyed it, but then they could show a boom shot of the house for an hour and I'd be LOVING IT.
Thomas was obviously only crying because the chance of a blowie had gone from him. I did love him and O'Brien when they were reunited and obviously both aware of the scheming that had been involved. I think this episode was very much just setting up of story lines than anything outstanding. Samantha Bond was totalthough.

Oh I thought it was really very good indeed, in fact I preferred it to last weeks. Samantha Bond was probably my highlight of the episode, her chat with the Dowager Countess was wondrous. The stuff about Mrs. Patmore's nephew was really well done too and brought some much needed depth to her character. Lady Edith kissing the farmer was a bit ODD though I thought, you could see it coming a mile off and it didn't feel quite RIGHT.
I love how utterly RUBBISH Cora/Elizabeth is no matter what she's doing, her getting angry at the Dowager Countess was hilarious, I hope she gets nominated for an Emmy again just for the LOLZ.

Her RUBBISHNESS is her WHOLE CHARM. She's easily in my top 5 of characters.
Maybe.
I love that they keep dropping that in/using it to justify anything and everything. Maybe they could use it to cover up poor Mr. Pamuk's death. ''Oh Mary fucked a man to death, but it doesn't matter BECAUSE THERE'S A WAR ON''![]()

I would have loved for Thomas and blind soldier boy to develop a relationship only for blind soldier boy to die on him in the final episode. That would have been emotional.

I got the feeling that it wasn't, for some reason. I wonder if Thomas got any in the trenches.
Google tells me the lovely blind soldier was played by Lachlan something, and he played John Barrowman's brother in Torchwood (UNLUCKY) which means you can go to sci fi conventions and have your picture taken with him
I would so go to DowntonFest 2012.
What's with all these old men FAWNING over Anna?
A character made of SUGAR PAPER
Oh and SERIOUSLY, Bates' MAD WIFE needs to RETURN.

Oooh a FAR MORE FIERY episode this week...
Enjoying the development of Lady Edith's character.
I'm not following this share scandal. Naked Turks work better.

Tonight's left me with LOTS of REAL OLDEN EVENTS to google. I like that a lot.
I also liked the rest of it a lot too. Mrs Patmore, Branson, and Edith and her cripples stood out as special favourites, and it's doing very well with hammering home what a fucker the great war clearly was. Mrs Bates needs to hurry up and make her no doubt triumphant return though.
There's not enough sex.

Mrs Patmore has been used to FAR GREATER EFFECT this year.
Is this not the wrong thread?

Another CORKER
Much as I love and indeed live for the Dowager Countess, I'm finding her to be less and less the focus of my attention. Dear old Moneypenny certainly gives her a run for her money. Lady Edith was the STAR this week for me, I love the way they're moving her character forward, it's actually quite believable too. Cora and Mrs. Crawley's bickering was the source of great amusement chez Johnkm.

Loved the rolling camera shot of the soldiers arriving from inside the house to outside and then back inside. I've been waiting for one of them since the Series 1 opener. So sumptuous. Yeah the bickering was fantastic and I was loving the Dowager Countess starting to laugh at her own quips![]()

I watched that earlier and found it most enjoyable. Highclere has some amazing gardens.

Oh I watched that today. They definitely shoot the house at the best possible angles in the actual show because it looked TINY in comparison.
I surrender to every word you whisper
That rolling camera shot of the soldiers arriving was so great. I wanted it to go on forever. It was possibly my favourite episode ever this week. There was so much going on and so much to enjoy. The Dowager Countess becomes more and more like Lady Bracknell on cocaine every week. She's even started amusing herself these days!
I think Mary, Edith and Sybil are all developing wonderfully. They really are of a generation where quite a lot started changing in society and they all reflect that in their own way.
