I find Single Rider queues slightly pointless these days since every POLYESTER WEARING CHAV is onto them.
When I was at Altonian Towers in July they closed most of them because the queues exceeded the main one.

Dr. Lecter?Men seek damages for ‘gay slur’ on California theme park photo
by Jessica Geen
Two men are suing a California theme park for damages after a photo of them on a ride was allegedly doctored and displayed with a gay slur.
Craig Person and Edmund Yang went on the Psycho Mouse ride at California’s Great America park in August 2008 and were photographed holding hands.
After the ride, they decided not to buy the photograph but friends later told them the image had been printed out and displayed at the ride’s counter with the caption ‘Were [sic] fags’, a lawsuit says.
The men went to the park’s managers to complain. While the lawsuit says the park was initially responsive, communication then dried up.
Their attorney, Wendy Musell, said: “Mr Yang was in the process of coming out, and it was very difficult for him to deal with this type of ridicule based on his sexual orientation.”
Mr Person and Mr Yang are suing Great America and its parent company Cedar Fair Entertainment Co for sexual harassment, discrimination, invasion of privacy and infliction of emotion distress by park employees, as well as negligence in the hiring and supervision of staff.
They want unspecified damages and policy changes.

Space Mountain is a TREAT so is that Aerosmith rollercoaster, although I was about twelve last time I went on those
It's ALL about Epcot though
Oh COME ON, EPCOT's a bit BORING really. The rides are TAME as ANYTHING and it's bloody HUGE which means ENDLESS HIKING.
The Food & Wine Festival in the World Showcase is EXCELLENT - though I don't think that coincides with Kate's visit.
Maybe it's just the CULTURE GEEK in me but I've just always been in love with Epcot. I guess it depends what you're looking for but I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea, if you're just into the rides primarily it's probably not for you

Is The Mummy ride at Universal really the best thing EVAH? Everyone I know creams over it.

Epcot was DULL as! Aside from
The food festival and En Vogue performing.
Percy, The Mummy ride is amazing, I forgot a out that! Great indoor ride!
I wasn't bothered about Disney to be honest, tho Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom was fabulous

I went on The Mummy ride last September and I can't remember a thing about it. Even watching it on youtube doesn't help. The Aerosmith ride at Disney Hollywood Studios is pretty fantastic for an indoor ride...
I stayed at The Peabody which wasn't bad at all. An awesome view over Orlando and Disney/Epcot from our room. Outside of the Disney (and possibly the Universal) hotels, there isn't a great lot of high quality choice.
The two Universal parks (+ CityWalk) are essential. Just fantastic. I'd love to go back. The Hulk, Harry Potter, The Simpsons, Shrek, Jurassic Park etc etc. All good.
Disney - less so. Hollywood Studios is actually cracking (Toy Story, Aerosmith, Tower of Terror) and Animal Kingdom is pleasant, but Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are dull dull dull. I'm sure they were great in 1981 or whenever, but I thought I was at FLAMBARDS or PLEASUREWOOD HILLS. Talk about dated.
Busch Gardens and SeaWorld are wonderful. Kraken, Manta and Sheikra are probably the three best rides in Orlando (+ Hulk)
I love the countries thing in Epcot, that's the only thing I wish I'd done a bit more of last time. Completely agree though that both that and the Magic Kingdom really are dated. I suppose there's no NEED for them to do anything about the places whilst they draw in crowds, and besides the brief resurgence they had during the 90's with The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Lion King, I'm not entirely sure what they have to replace the older stuff WITH.
It's more and more noticeable now that Universal have really stepped up. The difference between 2000 and 2008 was absolutely jaw-dropping, compared to the MEAGRE changes made at Disney. Even Hollywood Studios only really had a facelift and the addition of the Pixar stuff. Aerosmith has been there for years as has Tower of Terror.
the only reason to go to Orlando is the theme parks, Kate. There's nothing else there.
If your other half is on business then I assume he'll be in downtown Orlando. It's a bit sketchy because it's very quiet at night apart from the odd few pubs and clubs. They're not bad. We found one with live music. But to get anywhere else in Orlando is massively expensive by taxi, everyone drives, and only black people take the bus (it's so odd).
The ghettos in between downtown and the resorts are really awful, that's probably the crime rate issue you heard about. But it's not like you'll be staying there.
I'd personally fly out the day he finishes his work and extend the trip to Miami for a few days.
The conference is at the Convention Center which is out near Seaworld.
oh well in that case I wouldn't bother with downtown at all. Too much FAFFING just to go and find a decent beer.
Just be prepared for a complete lack of nightlife where you are staying. It's hotels, steakhouses and the odd family arcade, and nothing else.
Did you have a good time Kate?
I'm going back in September![]()
Going to spend more time in Key West, but will be fitting in Universal and Busch Gardens again. The jury is still out on whether we'll bother with Disney.
