Leona Lewis is preparing to release her fourth studio album later this year.

Earlier this week, the former X Factor champion confirmed that she had parted ways with management company Modest!, after signing with the firm following her talent show success.

Following the announcement, Lewis's label Syco told The Mirror that the 27-year-old is planning to record new material in the coming months.

"Leona Lewis is one of the UK's most successful artists, one of a few that have enjoyed huge global success in recent years selling more than 20 million records worldwide," it said.

"She will begin the recording of her fourth album imminently to be released later this year. She remains a key priority artist for Syco and for Sony Music Worldwide."

Lewis's last album Glassheart was released in October 2012 and peaked at number three in the UK chart. Her latest single 'Love Bird' followed, but failed to chart after selling fewer than 600 copies.

Hopefully this will cheer VoR up following the latest Swedish tragedy
