I like that the split series thing means we get TWO big FINALE's (although hopefully this one is a little less obvious than the whole River Song reveal).

Poor Jemima Rooper. What has she done to anger you, TP? Has she even had any work recently? I haven't even seen her in ANYTHING since "Lost In Austen." Pretty POOR when you remember that Gemma Arterton was in that as well. Oh dear.

As for this girl, I know almost nothing about her so I really cannot judge. The only alarm bell is Waterloo Road... but I imagine even Dame Judi Dench would manage to be shit on that show.

It looks quite exciting. Has a return date been announced yet?

No, the trailer has debuted really early given the series isn't expected to start until September-ish.

Yeah, some of that footage will have literally been recorded last week I wasn't expecting a trailer yet, but it does make sense since in previous years the series would be starting around this time - I'd imagine (well, HOPE) we'll get a trailer every couple of months to keep anticipation up now.

I do like that they're now apparently just writing Karen Gillan's ridiculousness into scenes - that bit of her firing the gun everywhere was probably an OUT TAKE

I like that trailer, especially considering they've only been filming for a month or so and there's therefore not much in the can and no cgi shots whatsoever. And it DOES look like they might have finally realised how to make Amy likable too. Better late than never.

Apparently the Weeping Angels episode is going to be filmed in New York. The extra BBC America money's clearly coming in handy when it comes to helping them stop pretending everywhere looks a bit like Wales.

Will they be able to resist making Lady Liberty herself a GIANT ANGEL? I wouldn't put money on it.

Also they're filming a Dalek episode just now - apparently featuring EVERY different design since the sixties

I know it doesn't REALLY feel like the Daleks have been properly rested, but I actually have no problem with them as long as the story is DECENT - the Weeping Angels need a properly decent storyline, they totally jumped the jark for me when you actually saw them move, completely ruined everything that was so great about them in the first place. Same with the Daleks really, they're supposed to be the most dangerous enemy but they've been reduced to standing having CONVERSATIONS with the Doctor instead of just KILLING him which was what was supposed to make them so scary.

That's giving me a HEADACHE (the them-meeting-the-old-him-making-it-a-fixed-point bit) but i think i like it.

I guess this means it's too late to send Moffatt my exit script idea though, where Amy falls into a giant meat grinder and it becomes a fixed point because everyone realises they're better off without her

    Oh TP

I do like the idea contained within the spoiler though, it does sound a little TOO complex/sci-fi bollocks for most people perhaps, but I love that kind of thing.

    Fear Her now offically NON-CANON

Also, Jenna has started filming so we should be getting a few bits and pieces soon (a promo pic at least). They're also showing the series premiere at the Edinburgh TV festival this year, so unless they sit on it for MONTHS afterwards we're looking at a late August/early September start for the first half of the series

I love it. ALTHOUGH, might the glasses mean that it's a disguise? Unless they're Matt's and he's just wearing them between takes. Or maybe the doctor wears glasses now. It's not that much of a stretch TP get over it

Clara is a UGLY NAME but she's still my favourite companion since Bernard Cribbins. The big lady in the second picture would also clearly be a BRILLIANT CHOICE should Coleman need to drop out.

Is there any other news about this series? I've not been playing too close attention but did read that the guy who writes Luther is going to be doing an episode, so that means we've got him, Chibnall (UGH), Whithouse (YAY) and Gatiss (HMM). I guess that leaves one or two more non Moffat writing spaces? I'd love Paul Cornell to pop back for another go. And i'd love it if the (quite old) rumours of Jonathan Ross's wife doing an episode came true. She's still not put a foot wrong for me in her other work.

ALSO, apropos of nothing, i have decided that i want Tom Riley to be the next doctor. Though he's locked into doing some sort of show about Leo DaVinci now (for number one faghag in the game JULIE GARDNER), so unless that flops he won't be able to take over for another five/six years so STAY PUT DOCTOR ELEVEN.

    moopy

I'm forever thankful that Russell T Davies IS still with us. He never looks all that well and his (brilliant) book gave the impression of a chain smoking man prone to moments of great stress and/or wanting to jump from a top floor hotel window.

I'm not familiar with Caroline John, but i feel your sadness Classic Who fans. I also know of her husband (and curiously shared a table in a canteen with him last year - take that, Neil Sean) and he seemed like a really really lovely old man, so i hope he's ok. Also: weird how she died in the very week that Prometheus opened and gave the world a new (and i'm going to assume DEEPLY INFERIOR) Liz Shaw.

Big YES PLEASE to Diana Rigg. Her daughter's good too, though she always seems to have missed out on most of Dame Diana's fabulous genes, whilst inheriting ALL the cunty ones. I read that Jessica Raine out of that Midwife thing and The Woman in Black has been cast as well. I think she could very easily end up as the show's next Andrew Garfield/Carey Mulligan-esque success story so WELL DONE CASTING TEAM.

Matt Smith has reportedly confirmed that Doctor Who will be back on our screens next month.

Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, the star said that the first episode of series seven – titled ‘Asylum of the Daleks’ would air some time in August.

The episode will be given its first public screening at BDI Southbank in London on August 14th, and it is being screened at the Edinburgh International Television Festival between 23rd and 25th of August.

Last year ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’ was first shown at the Festival, and broadcast on BBC One the next day – so this is expected to be the case for ‘Asylum of the Daleks’.

The BBC are yet to make an official announcement.

They were at Comic Con this weekend. The main news seemed to be that episode two is called, christ, 'DINOSAURS ON A SPACESHIP'

It's written by Chris Chibnall, so it'll be just BRILLIANT. Cough.
