I think they'll go a more Pink Friday route next time (not Roman Reloaded) as in mostly hip hop/urban material with just a few pop leaning songs thrown in the mix. She lost a lot of clout as a rapper with this album. Let's just hope the hip hop tracks are GOOD next time... there's only a few on the latest album I find passable, the pop half is where it's at

Nas and Cam'ron onstage sharing the same set. The return of Lauryn Hill. Fox boogie and Minaj together? Lil Tunechi touches down in the tri-state area. This was the night New York City hip-hop queen Nicki Minaj had in store for her hometown. But one word from Young Money boss Lil Wayne and the plug was pulled on one of the greatest shows that never happened. Could it all be so simple?

Earlier in the day during the Hot 97 festival that attracted more underground hip-hop acts such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q, radio personality Peter Rosenberg angered Wayne after he referred to Nicki's "Starships" track as "bullshit." Shortly after, word got back to Weezy who made it clear that "Young Money ain't doing Summer Jam." But that was just the beginning of the drama that would unfold for the remainder of the evening.

"Now before I get to the real hip-hop shit of the day, 'cause I see the real hip-hop heads sprinkled in here, I see 'em" said Rosenberg. "I know theres some chicks here waiting to see the "Starships" later but I'm not talking to them right now. Fuck that bullshit. I'm here to talk about real hip-hop shit."

Once word was sent that Nicki and the entire YMCMB camp would not be performing at Summer Jam 2012 Funkmaster Flex put Hot 97's position against the Nickster on full blast declaring war on the Queens native.

“We ain’t fuckin' with commercial rappers no more" Flex declared during intermission. "If you lost the fuckin' streets, its your fault! If you don’t go gold, its your fault! I’m dedicated to tearing you down! Fuck with me! We gon show you mama, you think you didn’t sell any records this time?”

For the most part of the night Rosenberg remained silent as his Twitter timeline took off like the second installment of "The Avengers" at the box office with users split down the middle, some chastising the radio jock for his "unprofessionalism" and others agreeing with him.

Not far from the vicinity of the Met Life stadium Nicki took her show on the road partying at a disclosed location joined by some of her guest appearances including Foxy Brown, Cam'ron, Beenie Man and more.

Back at MetLife as thousands of fans exited the stadium walking by a pink makeshift stage that got its moment, the house lights went on inside following Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group's dominating set. DJ Khaled was slated next to follow Ross after his set but Lil Wayne's "no performance" directive stretched across the entire YMCMB roster. Cash Money artist Busta Rhymes was also present at the show but never hit the stage showing allegiance to his new family.
Nicki Minaj’s no-show at Summer Jam tonight was far from lost on Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex.
In between shouting out Jersey a lot, the DJ alluded to rappers being “afraid” to take the stage.
MetLife Stadium remained packed from the floor to the top risers as Flex continued to launch digs at Minaj, saying it’s her fault she “lost the streets.”
“You think you didn’t sell any records this time??” he taunted.
“Tune in to me tomorrow at 7 o’clock,” Flex continued. “I’m gonna ruin a career.”
Then he got back to his high-energy set:
“Add me on Twitter right now @FunkmasterFlex!”
So far, no one from Hot 97 on the Summer Jam stage has explicitly named Minaj, who didn't show up because she took offense to comments from station personality Peter Rosenberg panning her song “Starships." Rosenberg seemed to make the claim that the rapper has become too mainstream, and is no longer "hip-hop" enough. Minaj's boss, rapper Lil Wayne, didn't take too kindly to the sentiment, and proclaimed that Minaj, while billed as a headliner, would not be part of the station's festival tonight.
I do find her cancelling rather pathetic, but this fabulous radio face-off more than makes up for it

    Oh this IS quite fabulous:

Nicki: When you DISRESPECT Nicki Minaj you're disrespecting her fans, don't make the THREE MILLION people that BOUGHT "Starships" feel inferior for their TASTE in music
    DJ: *nervously stutters*

It is rather long, but Nicki is on fire throughout.

"I'll get to my opinion on YOU later"

"Are YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!"

"NO, NO, NO, NO please go back and CHECK your RESEARCH"

"Know that Nicki Minaj sold you a lot of tickets, and she deserves some RESPECT"

"Singling out the only woman on the bill, that's some BITCH ASS shit"

"I respect men who are real MEN" "*DJ in apologetic voice* I know Nicki"

All in the first 11 minutes

    “Flex...”

    “Yes”

    “Flex...”

    “I’m here”

    ”I need you to breathe.”

    “I’m tryin’ to breathe mama.”

    *Nicki attempts to speak*

“I’m WID you, I’m WID you, I’m not AGAINST YOU...”

“Look, you’re not even listening and you need to simmer

    "Alright" *nervous laughter*

Although "Pound the Alarm" is the next worldwide single/US pop radio single, Nicki's apparently said on Twitter that "Whip It" WILL be released at one point

"Champion" is the next urban single in America.

the urban singles have been so NONDESCRIPT SO FAR sort it out Nicki

I posted a while ago that Whip It will indeed have a video she tweeted it herself and I really want Va Va Voom to be released at some point, been having several moments to it lately and a video is already made

Well it's not like they have the best selection to choose from (for the urban singles). "Beez in the Trap" is garbage but "Stupid Hoe", "Roman Holiday" are on a whole other level of SHIT. "Champion" and "Right By My Side" aren't top drawer but fine enough to do well on the format, I think.

I Am Your Leader and HOV Lane would have been better choices. I actually don't mind Champion but it's just too long and it doesn't feature enough Nicki (see XXXtina in Moves Like Jagger)

I'd rather have them move forward with Whip It and Pound The Alarm and take a risk and give Marilyn Monroe/Young Forever a stab as R&B/AC singles

The stupid HOE should've put Roman In Moscow on the album - that has nothing to do with the discussion just now, but it's been a few weeks since I last said it so there you go

I do feel that they should give one of these a chance - and presuming they continue to throw *buzz* singles out like this I fully expect them to do so

So now apparently "Va Va Voom" is the next US single ("Pound the Alarm" everywhere else). I don't dislike the song but WHY does Young Money insist on constantly releasing bonus tracks as singles? Especially when there are several potential pop smashes on the standard album

Got three tickets booked for Sheffield, right next to the stage. I've heard some bad things about her current smaller tour but surely she'll step it up for arenas.
