Scissor Sisters announce new single
The Scissor Sisters have unveiled details of a new single for 2012.
The American nu-disco band will release 'Shady Love' in January. The song will feature rapper Azealia Banks.
Addressing fans on Facebook, they revealed: "We hope you are having a great Christmas and looking forward to a very exciting 2012 filled with new music, shows, and surprises. One such surprise is coming your way sooner than you thought!
"We've spent 2011 making an album that we're really proud of and can't wait to share with you. Because you've been such good boys and girls, we'll be kicking off 2012 with a sneak peek of a brand new song to whet your appetite for what's to come."
Singer Ana Matronic first announced in September that the group were working on a fourth studio album - a follow-up to 2010's Night Work.
Scissor Sisters' 'Shady Love' will receive its first play on Radio 1 on January 2 between 10am and 1pm.
-----------------
Definitely think this will put them back on track as "Fire With Fire" was so unrepresentative of the great Night Work album... and with Azealia Banks' current hype, it should be a very big hit for them!

'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
This COULD be rather AWESOME.
Not exactly a collab I expected either but a nice surprise.
Nothing to see here MOVE ALONG.
What a BRILLIANT COLLABO PROSPECT
I WILL GET REAL GRIMEY. I WILL START CUTTIN' UP CLOTHES.
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
Wahtever. I've been OVER these bitches since ALBUM TWO. I can't believe they used to be COOL. Now they're MOR SHITE.
kyoko, it's me
In what world are they now more MoR than Ta Dah?!
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
Absolutely. Night Work was very much a move AWAY from the MOR of Ta Dah, I thought. As commercially unwise as it may have been.
Oh JARK.
I WILL GET REAL GRIMEY. I WILL START CUTTIN' UP CLOTHES.
I suppose the last one was less inclined towards MOR balladry. But it was JUST SO DULL.
kyoko, it's me
Have they EVER been known for their 'MOR balladry'? 'Mary' and 'Land of a Thousand Words' aside, their biggest hits are the uptempo tracks and their albums only contain one or two ballads.
Jark is always reliably at his WORST when discussing the Scissor Sisters. The last album was tremendous, and I've no idea how the likes of Night Work, Running Out, Sex and Violence et al could at ALL be described as 'dull' or MoFUCKINGR!![]()

I think this calls for a RATE of the album:
08 Night Work
08 Whole New Way
10 Fire With Fire
09 Any Which Way (Kylie really should have been on the album version)
07 Harder You Get
08 Running Out
09 Something Like This
09 Skin This Cat
07 Skin Tight
09 Sex And Violence
07 Night Life
11 Invisible Light
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
I for one am SICK AND TIRED of the Sugababes and their INCESSENT Heterosexual agenda. DID YOU KNOW THEY ARE GIRLS? GIRLS WHO LIKE BOYS? DID YOU?!?!?!?!?!
The pursuit of the heterosexual agenda in About You Now was absolutely unforgivable.
Oh SHIT, a GAY GROUP DEEPLY IMMERSED IN GAY CULTURE singing SONGS ABOUT SEX WITH MEN! Shit ME Jark, call the fucking Daily Mail, looks like they MISSED A FEW AGENDA PEDDLERS!![]()
I have to say, that last album wasn't great AT ALL. In fact, until I read this thread I totally forgot it existed the tracks were so forgettable. It DOES have one or two moments but the first two albums shit all over it.
Top up, Sue?
09 Night Work
09 Whole New Way
10 Fire With Fire
08 Any Which Way
06 Harder You Get
09 Running Out
09 Something Like This
07 Skin This Cat
09 Skin Tight
10 Sex And Violence
09 Night Life
10 Invisible Light
To AVOID the notorieties of gay inflation I've dodged an 11, but Sex and Violence is the best thing on there, and this is as measured as I can get with this album. There are hooks aplenty despite what Jark might FERVENTLY INSIST in an attempt to pass off hating the Scissor Sisters because they're now apparently too gay for his self-loathing self to be seen enjoying, and the production is absolutely top notch. I still listen to the album at least once a month, and it's one of the few albums I listen to from start to finish without skipping a single track. A truly coherent and consistently enjoyable package.
Sex and Violence is indeed the best thing on there. However, Fire With Fire is absolute dross.
Top up, Sue?
I love it! It's v modern day Elton, which is probably why.
It reminds me of that awful Hellogoodbye song for some reason.
Top up, Sue?
It's 13/10. You just ruined it.
Top up, Sue?
Apparently Azealia Banks is no longer on thisBUT this is premiering in the next three hours on Radio 1 anyway.
Oh wait no, she IS. Jake Shears' rapping in the first verse is a MESSI love the chorus and Azealia's verse (and the FANTASTIC middle eight) but this isn't at ALL what I was expecting!

I just don't get why they've dropped the ft. Azealia Banks when it so obviously is her
OH WELL
She went on twitter to say she wasn't on it, rather ODD
Im liking it more and more - the video is said to appear sometime today too
The first verse is SO BAD but I'm actually beginning to like it![]()
