HOORAY! It's the best song of the WHOLE DAMNED THING
Though it shouldn't really be released at all considering the "success" of the last couple of singles...
APPARENTLY, at least Amazon.com seem to think it is: http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Metal-Lo...7428054&sr=1-7
Stupid bitch should release Americano.

It's been too long, it's been too long...
Fabulous choice. I don't give a toss about chart success with this, I just want a SHORT AND CONCISE video.
kyoko, it's me
I think it's a better choice than Americano, in the sense that I think it's more likely to appeal outside of her hardcore fan base. Although this far down the line I think it's pretty negligible.
Americano is the best fucking thing on the album. STILL.
Nothing to see here MOVE ALONG.
She should have left it there for this album. I KNEW she wouldn't, though.

I would like to declare that I am in the Edge of Glory and Americano gang *hi guys*
And sadly I agree with Johnkm about Heavy Metal LoverApart from Bad Kids, which is my least favourite. I'd LIKE to like HML, but it just doesn't do anything for me, unlike for the majority of Gaga Moopers!

I like it, don't love it. I'm more pissed she's releasing a SIXTH single from an obviously flailing campaign to be honest!Have a REST love!
*pulls it out from radio come march*
cat, hat; in French, chat, chapeau in Spanish, el gato in a sombrero.
in hindsight, Judas and Marry The Night should have never been released, or at least should have been "BUZZ" singles

URGH
Why isn't she releasing Americano?!
A normal person must
Dismiss you with disgust
And weep for those who trusted you.
"Americano" is one of my least favorites on the album, a RACKET.
I like "Heavy Metal Lover" a lot but I really don't see it doing much of anything and continuing the trend of diminishing returns with these singles. A nice shorter edit of "Hair" I could see doing ALRIGHT but otherwise this album is pretty much done I think.
I wonder if she is going to perform this at the Grammy's?
I love how you've all gone from claiming Marry The Night as the campaign-saving hit of the album to a TOTAL MISTAKE in about 3 weeks
Hindsight is a truly WONDERFUL THING

I wonder if she'll try and reclaim the teapot after Madonna sipped from hers so iconically whist dissing her rip-off.
Reflected onto the wet pavement, can you see what I see?
I want to say at this point I must have been about the ONLY PERSON who STILL doesn't get "Marry The Night"- it's OK, nay, RATHER GOOD but it's ABSOLUTE GENERIC GAGA and I don't get ANY OF THE FUSS surrounding it WHATSOEVER. It's in my bottom five or six of the album, EASILY...
It's been too long, it's been too long...
I would have gone: (Album called The Edge of Glory)
Marry The Night
Edge of Glory
Hair
Heavy Metal Lover
RE-Release (Second disc called (Born on the Edge)
Born This Way (Judas B side)
You and I
FAN UP, FAN UP![]()
Ooh I love that Halli
However I would have gone:
1) The Edge of Glory
2) Marry The Night
3) Fashion of His Love
4) You & I (US)/Scheiße (Europe)
FEARLESS FEMALE
Ooh ooh my turn
1. Marry The Night
2. Edge Of Glory
3. Americano
That's all folks (she'd never have not released Born This Way, though. And it has to be either the first single or not a single IMO, and I don't think it should have been the first single)
I can't believe people would not have released 5-weeks-at-#1 Born This Way
WTF
kyoko, it's me
It poisoned the campaign, and arguably her as well.
She could have released 5 minutes of armpit farting and had a big #1 hit with the lead single from this album. The progress of the subsequent singles tells the real story.
NAH. Born This Way was a fantastic launchpad. It was CONTROVERSIAL and everybody was talking about it for reasons good or bad. The 'real story' (Journo VoR out in full force I see) is that Judas fucked things up. From the moment it premiered barely anybody was talking about it. It was a shitty and ill-advised retread which could never compare to the song it aimed to recreate. But Born This Way did the business and I firmly believe that people won't make a song a huge success if they don't like it. Nobody buys music because of the hype alone.

So, she's going to start the BTW tour once the album is deader than dead?
6 WEEKS at #1 love, SIX...
AND 8.2 million copies sold worldwide in 2011.
It was the RIGHT TRACK BABY.![]()

I don't think anyone would argue that 'Born This Way' was a hit - there's absolutely no denying that it was. But I still think that her decision to release the song came at the expense of some of the universal appeal which she had as a pop star - the only time during this campaign that it's really felt like she's been "Lady Gaga the biggest popstar in the world" is 'The Edge Of Glory' for me, that's a song that I think re-connected her with a market outside of her core fanbase in a way that none of the other songs did.
And whilst I do agree with Jark that hype alone may not sell MILLIONS of downloads, it certainly helps and I think had she launched the campaign with something better received (i.e. 'The Edge Of Glory'), she could potentially have had THE biggest hit of 2011 (well, maybe close to 'Someone Like You') not just "one of the five biggest"
I kind of agree. Born This Way was indisputably divisive, but I do think the UK was pretty much the only place it was so heavily criticised. It's VERY American and just far too earnest for the Brits.
I think Jark is completely right though. Born This Way wasn't the track that made the campaign run a bit more roughly than it should have, it was Judas that caused problems. If Edge Of Glory had been the second main single I think she'd still be knocking out no. 1s with every single release.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of 'Judas' - on the one hand it feels like the only reason it existed in the way that it did (i.e. "quick let's get another single out NOW") was because someone in her team must have noted the response to 'Born This Way' (the song) was not what they had expected. So even though from a commercial perspective, 'Judas' was the first weak link of the campaign, I can't help but think internally, there were already concerns about the album campaign which 'Judas' didn't cause, but equally didn't erase.
And on top of that, you then got the rush of buzz singles The Edge of Glory and Hair, before the album was released and Edge of Glory got an official release.
It did all seem quite panicky around that time, and I'm not surprised!
I agree Judas was definitely where the wheels came off the album campaign. Born This Way the single very definitely didn't connect in the UK like it did elsewhere, but I think it was a big enough hit that had the right single followed it (and fuck knows in The Edge Of Glory, she had it), any problem caused by that would have completely been undone. Judas simply isn't that good. Then factor in the release strategy for the singles, lack of video for TEOG, and then THAT video, and it all looks confused and directionless.
And yes, I also agree that had it been the first single, TEOG would be right up there sales wise with Poker Face and Bad Romance now.
Hmmm
An Interscope executive confirmed to Billboard this week that he is not aware of any current plans for another single from the album.
