I've changed my mind about my dress about 5 times. I'm still feeling weird about it. I guess it's because it's such a big decision.

I'm not a dress person at all. I don't know what I like but i know what I don't like. I'm like the blokes on Don't Tell The Bride!
It IS a big decision but i think to most of my family the fact I'm wearing a dress AT ALL is enough for them Also a wedding dress is such a BIG expense (usually anyway.) you don;t want to pay a grand or whatever for something you are not 100% happy with.

Well mine cost considerably less than a grand! I was determined not to pay over the odds for a dress that I was only going to wear for 12 hours, regardless. My trouble is that I had an idea in my head of what I wanted (something not very bridal) but then there were hardly any of that style in the shops and the ones I did try on just looked "meh" on me so I ended up going for something totally not what I originally thought I'd go for. I do absolutely love the dress but I'm still feeling weird about it because I'm just not sure it's a true reflection of me.

We're trying not to bankrupt ourselves with the wedding but everything is way more money that I thought it would be. I'm starting to get stressed out with it.

And then the one from the designer it's by on her website has one of those hoop underskirts underneath it, which I definitely won't be having and again and it looks all weird.

This may be part of the problem - I need to style it up in the way that I know will suit me.

I've been trying to DIY as much as i can while i have the free time but even then it still gets expensive. Even though I've still got so much to do I'm quite calm at the moment. I don't think its properly hit me i only have a like 7 months to get all this sorted pretty much on my own.

I'm definitely not a craft person but even so, I can't think of anything I can really do DIY-wise to actually bring the cost down? The big costs are marquee/infrastructure, food etc...

I know people swear by making their own bunting and tying endless ribbons around jam jars but those things are such SMALL FRY costs really?

this is true. And yeah, it wouldn't bring the wedding cost down an awful lot as its only fiddly "pretty" things. table dressing and such.
Our wedding budget is about Ł3.5k (yes REALLY) so every penny counts. If i can save Ł15 by making my own bunting its worth it although i only have a small hall to cover. I'd imagine for a large marquee it's a lot less faff to just buy or hire it (and probably cheaper too!)

I envy you! I wanted a small intimate thing but we have 98 people before we even invite a single friend - so just family on both sides, bridesmaids, ushers etc...

It's such a conundrum because I never wanted it to turn into a circus but it's slowly getting out of hand now.

We've had to keep it small as the registry office only holds 46 people! And even then its not all the family and friends we want to come so we are inviting the others to afternoon tea then friends to the evening do. we're inviting maybe 100 people in total.

We're booking the tiny room at the registry office, just us and two witnesses.

In my mind I've always kind of wanted to elope.

Oh they know! We have to do this in order to get legally married - because our "actual" wedding we're doing in a private residence that doesn't have a civil wedding licence so technically it's just a wedding "blessing". My future father in law is going to be the officiant and we're having a ceremony that is largely based on humanist principles and writing our own vows.

We're really only going to the registry office to sign the marriage register and get out marriage certificate - the "real wedding" so to speak is not legally binding.

We kinda have the same, our Indian wedding is our real wedding as such, but you still need to do the civil part. We had hoped to do it all on the same day so we just have one anniversary as such but time wise it's too much of a squeeze, so it's going to be another day.

Yep yep - I went to an indian wedding in the summer which was split over two days but they did a proper white wedding in a hotel for the civil part as the groom is from an english family and brides mother is pakistani so they wanted to do it both ways.

If you would like the link to that then PM me as I'm trying to limit the amount of links on moopy that directly linked to me if possible, innit.

I had another wedding nightmare/dream last night.

I dreamt that I had to ring around on the day of the wedding getting flowers because I'd forgotten about them - and then had to have shit ones.

Why do I keep having this? I'm FINE about everything and nothing will be forgotten!

    So far I have:
    - dress/shoes/makeup/headpiece sorted
    - Booked both marquees
    - Booked 2 x toilet cabins
    - 4 out 6 bridesmaids have dresses

    Still need to sort:
    Wine etc..
    Cash bar for night
    Tea party
    Catering/crockery
    Catering staff
Flowers - this is half sorted
Cake - this is half sorted
    Generators
    Decor
    Lighting/sound
Plus other random accessories for me to wear for the evening, because obviously I need a costume change so I can make TWO ENTRANCES

    WELCOME TO MY LIFE.

Never wanted to manson someone as much as my Mum right now

She's been BUGGING me to send over the wedding reading for my brother to practise...HELLO...WEDDING IS IN 5 MONTHS! How much practise does he need? Plus I'm kind of TIED UP getting the actual wedding sorted.

Anyway, I've just sent over what I want him to read and I got this reply:

"If that's what you want then fine. It's certainly a mouthful"

She just doesn't GET IT. First I had to reign her back in to stop her from choosing a BIBLE READING.... I was like, "errr, it's MY WEDDING, I choose. And I definitely don't want anything from the BIBLE m'kay?

Now she's implying what I've chosen is a bit hard to read....like I'm just going to go "ok you just choose the easiest thing to read from cheesyweddingreadings.com then"
