...but in all seriousness it's a fun thing. If you din't think it's going to be worth it then you wouldn't do it. There have been moments of stress and I'm sure lots of things will go tits up on the day but no one will know but me and it's going to be amazing.

I've been to SO MANY weddings over the years and spent the whole time commenting on what I WOULD HAVE DONE that finally I get my chance to actually DO IT.

Me and my nan set up a practice table yesterday to see what hey would look like with the crockery and stuff. Some of the stuff like flowers and napkins I had to improvise with.
Spoiler: because the pic is a bit wide I think

We also spent 2 hours discussing SEATING PLANS. As we can set the hall up however we want but are limited by the number of tables they have

Oh it looks GORGEOUS - i love the tea cosy!

I had my meeting with the kata tent man and he hummed and ahhed for ages about the front lawn where we want it and the slope thereof and decided that he could probably just about do it by digging in the back poles but it might not look picture perfect as the bottom of the canvas would have been flapping a bit (which I could have lived with).

Then as I drove away he called me and told me he'd spoken to someone back at his warehouse and they'd done some measurements and they didn't think that plan would work afterall BUT it IS doable in the the other spot we scoped out... which doesn't looks as aesthetically pleasing.

So I'm not sure whether to be pleased or pissed off. I guess I have to be pleased as if there were no spots for it to go then we would have had a serious problem on our hands.

Oh I love those tents better than a dull old marquee!
Aww that's a pain about the spot for the tents. but at least you CAN still have it. As long as they aren't being pitched by the bin sheds or anything i bet most people wouldn't even notice the positioning.

I don't know if any of you ladies are planning on using chalk boards for anything but they have some A4 sized ones with wooden borders in Poundland. I got some yesterday.

I'm having a traditional canvas marquee for the food - but I'm having it unlined with exposed wooden poles and my mother in laws homemade bunting. I can't bear all those satin pastal drapes you can get. But the kata is the for the D.I.S.C.O

Sent out a "save the date" on Facebook for friends and to get addresses etc...

We have agreed on a no automatic invite for partners of friends if we don't know them.... but a friend who's been invited as a single has replied with his address as "george & katie"

What do I do about that??? I've never bloody MET Katie and we're already struggling with numbers.

I LOVE that table Wendy. Particularly the milk bottle/vase. Have you got enough of those to go around?

Yes i LOVE the milk bottle! I wanted real milk bottles on my tables but ended up with milk bottle vases that look look like old style milk bottles which were just easier to buy in a job lot from the florist wholesalers rather than have to source milk bottles from here there and everywhere.

I've got 6 of the milk bottles and i think we need 1 more. I've had to get them off ebay and take my time as some people were really taking the piss with postage prices because they were glass. It's not a CRYSTAL VASE ffs!
I really wanted the told style long and tall milk bottles but they are really hard to find now

STAR, you need to delete some PMs...but for now then:

"Ok, so spoke to my Wine Society contact and:

" Yes they can go through member services who can book them an appointment in the showroom and go through lots of different options. Think they are quite helpful. May have to book it all though your share unless she does want to join, but then if she doesn’t drink much may not be worthwhile for her..."

As I said, happy to book it through my share or if you want to join, do that. If you're not interested, no worries, but happy to help if we can

    xxx"

Yeah we can do that - but it's awkward because it's an hour and a half drive from bristol so she'd have to drive up on her own. I also feel awkward having to specifically STATE that she's not invited to the day time as he's obviously expecting to bring her.

    FUCKITY FUCK.

I'd just invite George and not Katie. You maybe should put in a generic note (are you doing like a directions thing or something with the invite as many do?) saying "No offence but we are struggling on numbers and so..." BLAH DE BLAH.

I'm sure if you say "sorry we honestly don't have the space" he'll understand. It happened with my boyfriend when I'd only been seeing him a month or two - we travelled up together and then he just had to entertain himself for a couple of hours until the reception started. Wasn't a problem!

Oh that is a fact - it's happening. We've never met the girlfriend and we're over on numbers so there's no chance of inviting her just to avoid an awkward situation. I actually just feel it's a bit RUDE to assume that we'd invite someone we've never met. Bearing in mind it's all totting up to about £35 a head!

Yeah she's welcome to come to evening do if she wants.

Yeah I've done that before too when Ed was invited to an old friend's wedding - but I never expected to get an invite cos I'd never even met them. So yeah, the invite will be worded "to george".

Just wondering, but are any of you who are going down the 'design your own' (i.e. not traditional) route saying anything to guests about what to wear? Only traditional very formal wear or morning suits don't necessarily fit with the decor, but I'm wondering if people will attend in that sort of thing anyway?

I'm not having any specific dress code - i know my father is wearing morning dress. I have no idea what the rest of my reprobate friends will turn up in!

I'm sure the father of the bride has been planning that for YEARS and no matter where you were getting married you wouldn't sway him from it!

More like my MUM has been planning on him wearing that for YEARS

I'd be happy for the boys to wear open necks and converse with their suits. I'm really not bothered. I mean I'm getting married in a garden!

I got my caterers sorted! They are providing the bar, tables, chairs, linen, all crockery & glasses and we've hot a gourmet fork buffet with four options and mini desserts and the whole thing comes in at just over £30 a head (we've put down 100 for the day) They are also letting us provide our own welcome drink (Pimms) and wine / champagne for the toast but they'll serve it. Win! I think we going with lamb tagine, pork belly on bubble & squeak, prawn noodles and a veggie option. Happy with that!

We've paid for our food outright now, we got a discount for paying for it upfront.

Now need to sort out sound, lighting, bar and furniture for the kata and all the booze for the day. Am having a wedding planning weekend

Oh yes we got the wax prototypes of our rings. But I want mine thinner, it over-powers my engagement ring. It was £600 and something. His was £900 and something.
