Naomi Watts is Princess Di
Filming later this year for a 2013 release - I hope it's a HIT if only because Naomi Watts really could USE ONE!Originally Posted by Deadline

I'm already feeling NAUSEOUS at the saintly portrayal Diana will receive in this.
Interesting, but I can't help but wonder if it might not be an Oscar-Chasing biopic too far?
We've already had The Queen and Thatcher, not to mention Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Marilyn Monroe etc...
It's too soon. It's a great role for her, but she lacks any star quality or onscreen charisma for me.

REALLY? I think Naomi Watts is an astonishing on-screen presence, I've only seen her in a few things but she sells the living SHIT out of everything, she really becomes her characters

I'm basing my OPINION on King Kong, which seems perfectly reasonable...

I bloody love her in thatfair enough though

I kind of understand both points. I don't think she's ever blown me away with her acting TALANT, but I do think she's a great chameleon.
i don't think she's taken enough roles to determine her range but i've loved her in everything she's been in and she's done so many small roles.
She was fantastic in Mulholland Drive, and fine in King Kong - no more, no less, but it's not exactly a role that lends itself to a multi-layered and complex performance.
I think the only other thing I've seen her in is We Don't Live Here Anymore, which she was alright in but totally overshadowed by Laura Dern's performance.
I forgot about Mulholland Drive, I may have to back-track a little.

I thought she was wonderful in '21 Grams'.
Not sure about this one.
It will only be time for a Diana biopic until 5 years has passed since the Express's last Diana Exclusive.
when she puts on a british accent all her acting ability goes OUT THE WINDOW![]()
The last thing i heard it was going to be Jessica Chastain as princess di. I MUCH preferred that. I only really care about Naomi Watts during the first few seconds of seeing/hearing her name, when i without fail get her confused with the lovely Naomi Harris. After then i think she's alright but can't get too excited.
There's clearly going to be shitloads of biopics until the END OF ALL TIME (is there a better way to find new stories with a built in following? PROBABLY NOT), but i agree that them being tailored so much to the acting oscar categories gets rather tedious. This one's directed by the guy who did Downfall (about the last days of HITLER), which could be interesting. Especially if he's on Team ERII and casts Di in a SIMILAR LIGHT.
I do feel this is all a bit too soon though. I know they're all famous and rich so their feelings don't matter, but if my mum/relative/friend had died horrifically i'd really not want a film about it.

Well The Queen has already happened, and that was pretty much "Diana's death - the movie". Although I suppose she was at least kept offscreen.
If this film was even ONE TWENTY SEVENTH as marvelous as The Queen...![]()

'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
Is this what Gaga has been writing for?
”Go around, we're recreating a faux pas'”
Just be thankful Naomi is getting a lead role in a film which is bound to get plenty of media attention at the age of 43. Supporting roles in straight to DVD Daniel Craig horror flicks just AIN'T CUTTING IT.

She SURELY wasn't first choice. I bet Chastain said no, and maybe Michelle Williams too?
isn't Michelle Williams a tad too young to be playing Princess Di

cat, hat; in French, chat, chapeau in Spanish, el gato in a sombrero.
I always thought Michelle was around 28-29Y.O.why the hell does she dress like an old bag lady that lives with cats? Makes her look 38.

Oh you were close, she's 31!.
Di was only 36 when she died. Yet all those lives she'd managed to touch. Sleep well, Peoples' Princess, sleep well.

Why haven't they given her the iconic mullet?
This is going to be the cheapest shit ever.
I feel bad for her.

She looks more like Jane Horrocks.

It looks like some sort of niche, .gif-tastic NBC mockumentary. If only Thandie could put in a cameo.
It doesn't look a patch on the Toni Collette vehicle Diana & Me.
Have they learned nothing from Liz and Dick?
