Yes and I'm loving it but I've managed to press something in chrome that has shrunk the text on moopy down something awful. Any idea what it might be and how to get it back to regular size? *squints*

Thanks Perce. Is there a way of turning that pinch feature off though? I must have spazzy hands because I'm constantly changing the screen resolution while I scroll and it's getting RIGHT on my TITS.

It's something that I was doing a lot also, but I just kind of learnt over time.
The feature works better in Safari though, where it pinches and zooms more like iPhone safari and you can double a tap a specific area to zoom in (just like on an iPhone). Plus reading lists and and bookmarks sync between devices.

iso hunt and use Transmission for your torrents. It's a beautifully small none system hogging application.
Any torrents with viruses are likely to be .exe's and they won't run on your mac anyway.

Sorry for the array of tedious questions, but I downloaded a torrent of Game of Thrones in a .3GP file and I keep getting this error message when I try to open it
I've tried downloading an update of quicktime - which is what a quick google search threw up, but no joy. What do I do?The document “Game.of.Thrones.S02E01.720p.HDTV.RM-IMMERSE.3gp” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized.
I don't like Quicktime, so I'm using MPlayerX on my mac.
Can you get VLC Player for the Mac? That can play most video files, even obscure ones (and I might be out of the loop, but the last time I heard of 3gp files it was as the default recording format for shitty early cameraphones)

What file formats SHOULD I be looking for in HQ TV downloads?
I still prefer avi wherever possible, but I think mp4 files are okay too. There;s also mkv files for proper HD stuff, but I never bother with all that (mainly because you can't watch them on the Xbox)

VLC is the only player worth bothering with for torrent files. It opens them all.
avoid that format, I believe that's for mobile phones. get .avi or .mkv
and yes to VLC. you'll never need another player again, it does it all
I like how VLC now has a browser window for looking to DLNA devices so I can rip recordings from my Freeview+ box.

New problem: I attached my Freecom external hard-drive, which has all of my music, but I can't find how to access it. I'm not sure it's recognising it.
DO NOT tell me I now have to rip all my CDs again. I will top myself.
if the drive is NTFS-formatted it can be quite problematic on a Mac. you'd want a FAT32-formatted drive for universal support

That's a bit rude.
In summary, there are LOTS of different filing systems hard drives can use which all have differing benefits and limitations, mostly with regards to file size and space usage. Windows has generally chopped and changed what it can read from version to version.
Any new hard drive you buy will be formatted to a system that is usable by both.
With old hard drives, you will need to find a piece of software that can read what is essentially an arcane and out of date system.
My advice would be to buy a new external drive which your Mac can read (i.e. anything you were to buy now). Get the software that allows you to read the old one. Copy the files from one to the other. Format the old drive once that is done to a universal system and use that as a backup - please don't tell me you've got all your music on a single instance of a single hard drive right now.

What model number is your external hard drive? Obvious question, but have you tried googling it to see if other people have had exactly the same issue?

It's nothing to do with the model number. Hard drives haven't changed physically in donkey's years. It's to do with the FILE FORMAT and you can be sure there will be a piece of software that will be able to read it - it's just not what you want to be using going forward.

1. Do you have any music on your Mac's internal hard drive?
2. Is your music only on your external hard drive? What happens if this hard drive fails (considering it's a couple of discs that spin very fast with a tiny needle running over them means this WILL happen at some point).
3. Have you backed that hard drive up to any other medium?
4. How many songs are in your iTunes library? (exact number is important here! Click on "Music" in the left column and make sure "All Genres (if available)/All Artists/All Albums" are selected. The bottom of the screen will now show you how many songs you have in your library with a few other bits and pieces of information (# items, total time, library size).
5. How big is your Mac's hard drive (click on the blue "Finder" icon to the very left of the dock, the bit at the bottom that has application icons in it/Pick the grey hard drive icon at the top of the "devices" item and press the Apple button plus the i key which will give you a summary of your Mac's hard drive.

Right. So you are now running two itunes libraries on two different drives with two different file system formats.
It's not an impossible situation but it will require a bit of appliance.
Do you want to retain the play counts and ratings from your original iTunes library? This will complicate things immensely if you do.
Once the two libraries are merged, you need to have one instance of your iTunes music on a drive (either external or internal depending on its size) and a second instance on a completely separate hard drive or in iCloud (the latter available through Apple if your library is less than 25,000 songs in size and for an annual fee).
This way, you won't lose any songs ever again.

Oh I'm constantly losing my play counts anyway and I don't do ratings, so I couldn't care less about that.
Stop ripping things to your new Macbook for a start until you've transferred this lot across.
Open Disk Utility in the Applications > Utilities folder. Can that see the drive when it's plugged in and powered up? Try restarting your computer before doing this.
