And get this crack whore SHIT out of her SYSTEM!
That TOO
I've been listening to GGGB a fair bit lately and I just miss that time of Rihanna making ahead of the curve pop music and bringing something fresh. She really MUST take some time out to recharge after this album is done.

I guess the only thing about that I GET is "Don't Stop the Music" which was probably one of the only dance leaning pop songs to get played on US radio at that time. But otherwise, "Shut Up And Drive", "Hate That I Love You", "Take a Bow" have 2007 written all over them.
I suppose a select few cuts (DSTM, Breakin' Dishes) were sonically ahead of the curve (and nothing before or since has really sounded like Umbrella) rather than the whole album. I just want her to find a fresh sound again rather than relying on basic bitch Stargate cuts and roping Esther Dean in to write everything.

I guess from a Rihanna standpoint is was definitely a major step forward after the basic bitch R&B-pop she flogged with the first two albums. And a lot of the tunes HAVE held up rather well (aside from the Ne-Yo duet ad "Shut Up and Drive", even though I still love the latter). I guess I just see the two albums that followed it as much more DISTINCTIVELY RIHANNA without trying to push the sex bit too far like on Talk That Talk. Basically, if she finds that middle ground between the rich melodies and introspective qualities on Rated R and the pop sensibilities and character of Loud I will be back on board.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't find the tunes on Talk That Talk to be very enjoyable (well most of it anyway) but as an overall album it sounds so much more rushed, try-hard and CHEAP compared to the preceding few albums. Like it sounds like Shontelle recording a set of songs intended for Rihanna.
Rockets 78-29 on the latest Hot 100 chart. It's already out-peaked the last pop single "Talk That Talk"

I think that's the thing that this album is a bit too try-hard whereas Rihanna hasn't needed to try to be cool or sound relevant (since Umbrella), doing Birthday Cake with Chris Brown was just unnecessary and I much prefer the Rihanna that have the subtle sexual implications rather than the meaningless empty sex dictated on this album. Just because anything with Rihanna's name attached has just sold in its masses (on the whole) over the past few years a lot of that is down to the top quality songs she's been given, I think here they did compromise on the quality a bit and it's showing a bit.
As much as I do love We Found Love and Where Have You Been I would have liked a few growers on the album

Why on earth was this not second single? LOVING it.
"You da one" is dull as and "Talk That Talk" although good was hardly instant.
I imagine they wanted to avoid having the second single in the same vein as We Found Love. I actually really like You Da One but I think Drunk on Love would have been a good LEFTFIELD choice for single number two.
I love "You Da One" but with "We Found Love" still absolutely mammoth at radio (and sales) it didn't have much room to grow.
I was just never that fond of "Talk That Talk", personally
That's a cracking video and then some!
The song has really waned in my affections since buying the album though and I can't really see this turning it around. She's almost inevitably just over exposed right now. Just way, way too much of everything.
Talk That Talk was just a poor man's Rude Boy that fucked over Te Amo and Keri Hilson's Lose Control was videotaping everything

Beating her nearly dead wasn't enough for her to cut ties with him but a potential DISS in some shit buzz track IS
RIHANNA DROPS CHRIS BROWN
You Finally Crossed the Line
It seems Rihanna has finally had enough of Chris Brown ... the singer has "unfollowed" her ex-boyfriend on Twitter after he released a new diss track that appears to be aimed at her.
The song in question is a remix of Kanye's TheraFlu -- in which Brown freestyles the verse, "Don't f*ck with my old bitches ... like a bad fur ... every industry n*gga done had her."
He continues, "Trick or treat like a pumpkin ... just to smash her."
Hours after Brown released the track last night, Rihanna stopped following Brown on Twitter -- a HUGE move -- and one that's leading many to assume Rihanna believes the verse is about her.
A short time later, Brown unfollowed Rihanna.
We reached out to Rihanna's rep -- so far, no comment.

"Birthday Cake" might become her 31st, this week it's a non-mover at #24. I just don't understand why the label is so against selling the remix on iTunes, it would instantly vault to the Hot 100 top ten with its currently big airplay numbers. It's not like they're taking an ETHICAL STANCE or anything, they already went out of their way to sending it to urban radio.
Seems to have climbed a bit more now
#3 UK itunes
#6 US itunes

Flo Rida is on a new remix of "Where Have You Been", I wouldn't be surprised if they unleash it onto iTunes in a few weeks when its airplay, sales are closer to peaking.

As it stands, it's #7 on US iTunes, #3 in the UK
#6 for a third week in the UK, it's been like #4 most of the week on iTunes yet still can't make the top five?
#9 on the Hot 100 this week, becoming her 22nd top ten US hit
As she ups her total to 22, Rihanna moves closer to the record for most Hot 100 top 10s among women in the chart's almost 54-year history. Madonna leads all female soloists with 38 top 10s (also the most among all acts, including solo males and groups), followed by Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (27 each) and Whitney Houston (23).
Dating to her first week in the Hot 100's top tier just almost seven years ago (July 16, 2005) with her debut single "Pon De Replay," Rihanna's 22 top 10s in that span are the most among all acts. Lil Wayne is second in that stretch with 16. Among women in that time frame, Rihanna boasts twice as many top 10s as her next closest female competitor, Lady Gaga (11).
"Been" concurrently reaches the top 10 on Radio Songs, jumping 14-9 with a 17% gain to 64 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. The song is Rihanna's 19th Radio Songs top 10, pushing her past Lil Wayne (18) for the second-most top 10s since the chart launched in December 1990. Only Carey (23) has more in the chart's history.
"Been" additionally bumps 8-6 on Digital Songs with 144,000 downloads sold (down 1%), according to Nielsen SoundScan, and 39-32 on On-Demand Songs with 286,000 on-demand streams, according to BDS.
The song is Rihanna's second Hot 100 top 10 from her latest album, "Talk That Talk." She spent 10 weeks at No. 1 with first single "We Found Love." Both tracks feature the writing and production talents of Scottish DJ Calvin Harris.
I take it that this isn't anywhere near reaching distance (yet) for them to even begin to aim for another #1 . . .

8-5 on the Hot 100 this week, was beginning to think it might not make the top five due to it decreasing on iTunes...
A busy Hot 100 top five also welcomes Rihanna's "Where Have You Been," which surges 8-5 with the chart's top Airplay Gainer award. It lunges 7-4 on Radio Songs (96 million, up 17%), 22-16 on On-Demand Songs (438,000, up 36%) and 8-7 on Digital Songs (122,000, down less than 1%).

What is 'on-demand songs'? I'm guessing streaming but from which sites?

Great for it to make the top 5 but I imagine that'll be it's peak given how far ahead Payphone, Call Me Maybe, Somebody That I Used To Know and now Wide Awake are. . . . .
