So who are your favourite acts from the 1910s?

In a message posted on Facebook, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, paid tribute to her legacy and in particular the influence of one track. "For me, there is no doubt that her song I Feel Love had a dramatic effect on modern music. it was certainly a key influence on my work with Duran Duran.
    OH WELL

It's not as if she wasn't responsible for a lot of REALLY GREAT THINGS AS WELL

I've just heard the news and feel really sad. More than anyone else she was the one who really got me into disco music in the 70s. 'I Feel Love' was truly groundbreaking and was the most important single released in 1977. At her peak she recorded material at a breathtaking pace - between 1976 and 1980 she released 10 albums and 25 singles, an astounding amount.

    R.I.P.

Not relevant VoR? She's trending ALL OVER THE SHOP. I have to say I AGREE with Marcus Brigstocke when he says "McArthur Park' is one of his favourite EVER songs!

My one regret in 1978 was being in HMV in Newcastle, having a copy of the 'McArthur Park' US import 12" - it contained the full 17 minute 'McArthur Park suite version that appears on her 'Live And More' album - in my hands and not having enough money to buy it. It was £3.99, a lot of money back then especially when compared to UK 12" singles which were about £1.49, and I didn't get enough pocket money to be able to buy it. When I went back the following week with enough money to buy it they had sold out and never got it back in stock again.

The full "MacArthur Park Suite" is a PHENOMENAL piece of music. It's RIDICULOUS!

It's definitely one of my all time favourite pieces of music...

I Will Go with You (Con te partirò) is my personal favourite. I know it's relatively insignificant in terms of what else she recorded, but I can't get enough of it. She always sang with gusto, like she meant every word, and it was a voice that made it clear she was enjoying every minute of it.

I only have several edits in my collection. Annoyingly the full shebang is only available on iTunes as part of The Dance Collection, and I have most of the other 12" mixes elsewhere already. Does Donna really warrant shelling out €10.99 for one track, hmmm?

What a delightful turn of phrase

I take it it means "I would have made sweet disco love to her"

9:27 AM PST- TMZ has learned ... Donna died from lung cancer. Several sources are telling us Donna believed she contracted it by inhaling toxic particles after the 9/11 attack in New York City.

Easy to forget she was MUCH bigger in the US than the UK. Was it 4 or 5 #1s? And Grammy nominations by the SHEDLOAD.

She had a great streak of Gold/Platinum albums in the 70s and early 80s. But beyond that I'd say even if you're totally unaware of the woman herself you know "Hot Stuff", "She Works Hard for the Money", "Last Dance", "I Feel Love", "Love to Love You Baby", "Bad Girls" to some capacity. And those are just the massively famous/iconic ones.
