I worked with him quite a few times. He was quite a diva, as he should well have been, but a nice guy.

They're dropping like flies at the moment.

Possibly the best voice of the Bee Gees, Robin is the one who sang lead vocals on most of their 60s songs.

If you want to hear a good song, listen to New York Mining Disaster 1941. Such a brilliant song.

If you thought Michelle Gayle commenting on Amy's death was inexplicable enough, we've just had ANTHONY COSTA leading the tributes on Daybreak.

Awww His voice may have been the textbook example of an acquired taste but by jove, did it work magic on some of those sixties miserablist anthems, "I Started a Joke" in particular.

Coincidentally only the past week I played two of his solo albums back-to-back! His cult debut opus Robin's Reign which was apparently near-impossible to find legally for about 40 years until it was finally released on iTunes last year and his 1983 synthpop offering How Old Are You? with "Juliet", smash hit across the continent but a mighty old flop in Britain. I actually prefer its follow-up single "Another Lonely Night in New York", a simply gorgeous song, and the title track (whose lyrics admittedly come dangerously close to being a nonce anthem).

R.I.P. Robin. At least he's reunited with his twin brother in the afterlife, if he should have believed in such a thing.

My iPod shuffle has just thrown up "Sir Geoffrey Saved the World", the rather whimsical B-side to "World" with Robin on lead vox.

Precisely how I'd imagine him to be to be honest - I'm quite pleased to have it confirmed.

His(/their) legacy truly is stellar. SNF might have firmly posited them in the naff camp but you genuinely cannot argue with the killer tunes they churned out

Caught the re-run of the 2001 TOTP2 special on the Bee Gees in tribute of Robin last night. Didn't know that they wrote "Sacred Trust" for Backstreet Boys, but it got rejected by their people! At least it eventually got recorded by their UK equivalents, One True Voice

It's impossible to watch latter-day interview clips of the three of them together and NOT think of Rock Profile though, isn't it? SILENCE NUMBER THREE *wags lion's tail*
