Are you including songs that actually went to Eurovision?
I've been thinking of doing this for a while, but it's being really hard to find 25 decent songs
Spain had some National Finals back in the 60s and 70s, but since 1976 we have to go until 2000 to find another preselection. As most of the old ones were to select the singer or just crap songs, I'm actually doing 2000 - 2012. It will include some songs that didn't qualify for the tv shows so even if you're a hardcore fan you might discover life beyond Coral, who is not guaranteed the #1 spot (sorry VoR)
I'm not including songs that won and went to Eurovision.

Are you including songs that actually went to Eurovision?
Oh no, just songs that didn't win, I thought that was implicit, sorry.
I'm starting with songs there's no way I'm including in my list, and we'll find out that we were THAT close to send someone talking about cybersex years before Valentina![]()
Before we start, here we have 5 songs that didn't make it for several reasons.
Eres Un Enfermo - Las Supremas de Móstoles
2nd, 2005
When I say we were very close to send this song about a husband obsessed with cybersex, I really mean it. Sisters Las Supremas de Móstoles were the favourites to win this year, they were all over the media. Brujería is not exactly our best entry ever, but this song is just AWFUL and by some miracle it didn't win, thank god. Probably because people from the south where Son de Sol are from and use to vote a lot to support their artists.
Maybe you didn't know... Son de Sol fade into obscurity quickly, but Las Supremas were still around for a few years, performing in any tv show or Gay pride and desperate to have a proper hit. They didn't even when they tried hard. Now that it's Eurocup time, 4 years ago they recorded some shit they thought it was going to be a football hymn.Spoiler: Click if you dare

Sin miedo - Anabel Conde
8th, 2010
Spain's most succesful singer in Eurovision in decades, Anabel Conde is only remembered by eurofans, as she never had a recording career or any kind of hit. It doesn't matter how well she did when there is such a lack of charisma. After 1995 she tried again submitting songs that never made it to any final. In 2009 she was featured in a song by a random male singer that made it to the semifinals but didn't qualify for the final. You can see her here what she really knows how to do: scream (go to 03'10"). And as you all probably know, she was a background vocalist for Andorra 2005. You can find her dressing as a troll screaming again (03'12").
Sin miedos is such a boring song, the performance was just forgettable and the audience couldn't care less. She finished 8th out of 10 (50/50 televote and jury). The highlight of the performance is when they turn the windmachine on and she can hardly keep her eyes open (03'06").
Maybe you didn't know... The four girls singing with Anabel had their own entry that year as L'e Femme but didn't qualify for the final. One of them was a background vocalist for Soraya in Eurovision the previous year.
Tomorrow some more shit and the top 25.

Poor Anabel Conde. Was Vuelve Conmigo not a hit even after its Eurovision success?
Those old ladies are actually quite funny. I prefer them over Valentina!
I can only assume a travestite is a transvestite travesty, in which case I APPROVE![]()
I actually like Sin Miedo! It's a bit basic, but if it was in Eurovision it'd probably be my 22nd favourite song of the competition
You Spanish people are so UNGRATEFUL. Poor Anabel.
Although Sin Miedo really isn't very good.![]()
Anabel has a good voice but no personality. I think she was working in a videoclub years after Eurovision. Btw she's recording a new album now, I wonder if it will be Melodifestivalen covers as she was planning not long ago.
And just 3 more embarrasing songs that didn't make it
Un olé - Arkaitz
4th, 2008
(the performance was live, but the only video available in youtube is this one with the studio audio)
When TVE decided in 2008 people would choose 5 of the finalists voting online, the process became a joke. An open door to every single transvestite and pseudo-singer to try to go to Eurovision with just any shit they could come up with. Arkaitz blatantly cheated as he finished third in the online poll, even above Coral, and as it was basically eurofans non stop voting for their divas and I never ever found a single person who voted or liked Un Olé, there is no way he qualified because fans voted for him as he said (which fans? get real!).
Un Olé is just another awful song about flamenco, fiesta and all those Spanish topics that some stupid people still think it's what we have to bring to Eurovision. And eurofans were shocked when they found out he totally copied Lumidita's Let me try staging. No shameDuring the final he had to spend a fortune voting for himself, managing to finish 4th.
Lujuria - Salva Ortega
10th, 2010
Yet another rip-off, but this time not the performance. This song finished 10th but I have serious doubts this song could go to Eurovision... isn't it TOO SIMILAR to a recent Greek entry?
Revolución - Erica Magdaleno
Didn't qualify, 2010
Yes, we have our own Spanish Divine. She can't hold a single note but she will try every single year if there is any casting online. She's well known among eurofans for all the wrong reasons but never got enough votes to be close of a tv show. This one is in representation of hundreds of freaks who still think Eurivision is a circus. I hope they give up at some point, because I think there is no way these people will have a chance again, if TVE learnt after the incident in 2010 when El Cobra, a freak that was voted en masse as a joke and qualified for the final, and as he was being booed after "singing" he swore on national tv "eat my cock!" and some more nice things. Check it out here (forward to 02'00")
Enough shit. Coming up, decent entries (hopefully).

That El Cobra THING is utterly rancid. As is Arkaitz - that lip-piercing looks too much like a bad case of herpes. Salva Ortega takes a good picture, though
I have to say, if these are the ones that are not good enough, this should be quite a treat of a countdown. I'm really quite liking Sin Miedo![]()
I remember liking Revolucion, it sounds very Gaga you know back when she was ACTUALLY GOOD
actually the version I meant above is this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XefCQ...feature=relmfu
It's practically Just Dance spanish version

cat, hat; in French, chat, chapeau in Spanish, el gato in a sombrero.
It's based on my taste, and you know I'm f**king mental so you can expect anything
That's a total Gaga rip-offThe song is actually GOOD, but I refuse to include her as she can't sing for her life, it's a joke she even tries...
I agree, but you need to have some personality to build a career. You can't behave in an interview like Ab Fab's Patsy "Yes, cheers, thanks a lot. Yes, cheers, thanks a lot".
It really is the spanish version of YassouHe has the looks, but they really should have tried to make it at least a little best less alike.
Why did they even try to enter a spanish ya sou? The real one was already shit plus they would instantly get disqualified.

Struggling to find 25 decent songs so I'll have to start with just ANYTHING![]()
25. Samba house - Santa Fe
3rd, 2009
Santa Fe is actually a Cuban group, so I'm not sure why they had the need to represent Spain in Eurovision. But they tried since 2007, when they reached the semifinal. This year they teamed up with 3 Spanish female singers (from X Factor and Operación Triunfo, the Spanish pop Idol) to deliver a song that is just wrong, wrong, wrong. The atrocious lyrics, the fans in the audience with a red tanga in their hands, and I wouldn't feel represented by something like THAT. And they couldn't even afford a decent outfit so just stole it from them. I guess the big latin community voted for them because they won their semifinal and were close to win the whole thing.
Maybe you didn't know... one of the girls, the first to do lead vocals and the one in the middle of the picture, María López (now she changed her name to something else because this is the Spanish equivalent of being called John Smith) was one of the Pastora's background vocalists in Baku.
Last edited by Alla Flickor; 15-06-2012 at 06:09 PM.
And yet POOR WONDERFUL Sin Miedo is STILL relegated? What an atrocious MESS. Even amongst those vocal abominations, the girl with the reddish hair still manages to stand out as exceptionally awful
. Well done Maria Lopez, though. ON BALANCE, she's made a positive contribution to the world of music during her life. Do either of Pastora's male backing singers appear? They were both quite
Also, not to sound RACIST or anything, but isn't EVERYONE in Spain part of the Latin community?![]()
Last edited by Dinlo; 15-06-2012 at 06:17 PM. Reason: racist dinlo tried for war crimes
Sin miedo is not wonderful, just boring, and if you're Anabel Conde you have to come up with something way better than that, that's why I decided to not include her. There is tons of worse entries that I won't even bother with, but I thought people here would be more interested in knowing about Conde than any random shit
María is not the only Pastora's backing singer to appear here, but you'll have to wait to find out.
Oh I don't see any racism in your question, I totally understand what you mean. For you we all might be "latin", but we call Latins to anyone from Southamerica. Only in Madrid there is over 1 million latin people, and we are very different in many aspects; musically we don't have much in common.
It's just a matter of perspective, for anyone in Spain people from England, Wales and even Ireland are all "English people", so there you go.
Last edited by Alla Flickor; 15-06-2012 at 06:34 PM.
I'd advise you never call an Irishman 'English' to his face, especially in certain Catholic areas of Northern Ireland.
And sorry, when I said 'atrocious MESS', I was referring to Samba House, not your decision-making skills. Although Sin Miedos in NOT boring(Anabel Conde, however...
)
Sin miedos
Hoy me siento toda UNA MUJER!![]()
Do you?
I know pretty well that English, Irish and Welsh is not the same, but tell that to anyone here. Same if you call "latin" to any Spanish people, they wouldn't like it at all. But most of the times is just people trying to find an excuse for trouble, I've even been called weird, believe it or not.
I can tell the difference between spanish, latin & hispanic. What makes no sense to me is Spaniard. Does anybody know the differerence to the rest 3?
To a place without fear, with no moonlight
Calling an Irish and Englishman is the same as calling a Portuguese a Spaniard.
UTTERLY WRONG and ABSURD.
Nothing to see here MOVE ALONG.
In my experience no one would call an Irish an Englishman. But calling Welsh and Scotts as English is a common overgeneralization.
To a place without fear, with no moonlight
In my book, Spaniard is a noun. It means a person from Spain, and nothing elseOriginally Posted by Queen of the Bay
Spanish is an adjective meaning relating to Spain or to the Spanish language or I guess Spanish people. I don't know whether that extends to Spanish-speaking people in the new world, but I probably wouldn't use it in that way.
A normal person must
Dismiss you with disgust
And weep for those who trusted you.
Technically, Hispanic is anything relative to Spain or the old Spain (it used to be called Hispania) and the different people that came up from it, including most of then in Southamerica. And Latin it's actually refered to the Latin language, so that includes Italian, Romanian... But in Spain you would refered to anyone from Southamerica (Mexico and Central-America too) as latin or hispanic, being latin the most used world.
And I agree with Madison about Spaniard, that makes sense to me. For some reason the first time I heard someone calling us Spaniards I thought they were being racists like if you call someone Paki, but I dodn't know where I got that idea from. Do you have any insulting words for us or latins in general? We have wy too many for latin people
Anyway I should continue my countdown![]()

24. Sin amor eterno - Carola Terror Drag
Didn't qualify, 2009
Sorry but Coral is not gonna be the only transvestite in this list. Carola is just wonderful! Ok she doesn't have a voice but you know, this song is quite good. As every single transvestite, drag-queen or freak in this country, she tried the 3 years you could present a song online and would qualified with internet votes (2007-2009). She writes her own songs and is a big eurofan, usually singing in her shows Eurovision tunes like this. Sin amor eterno is a huge improvement from her 2008 efford, when she recorded her entry with a 2£ micro and the windows 95 recording system.
Maybe you didn't know... she's not even a C-list celebrity here but that doesn't stop Carola of acting in blockbuster films like this
Spoiler: Bigger than Titanic

23. Volver - Auryn
2nd, 2011
Never a Spanish boyband has been successful here and they are no exception, even when they're still trying. I personally can't stand this bunch of rubbish gais, but the song is not bad and someone else would have done a better version. They are just there for teenage girls and jonathan, I suppose. The only straight one is a former Eurojunior performer, and another one called Blas tried previously too, I think the year María Isabel won the whole thing, but not sure because I never cared about this paedo festival.
Maybe you didn't know... the first single they released was a song penned by the one and only Ruth Lorenzo.
