So the four singles left, it may be predictable but they got it so right with the choices here. I'd rank them like this:
1. Till the World Ends
2. I Wanna Go
3. Criminal
4. Hold It Against Me
I remember my first time hearing "How I Roll", being a bit tipsy and ready to go out and I never looked back, what an infectious pop song. It's definitely the album track with the most personality off Femme Fatale IMO, so much fluidity and on the tour it was the only performance where she actually looked comfortable and was having fun.
17. "Don't Keep Me Waiting" (14 votes, 70%)
16. "Selfish" (11 votes, 55%)
15. "Seal It With a Kiss" (9 votes, 45%)
14. "Scary" (8 votes, 57%)
12. "He About to Lose Me" (7 votes, 50%)
12. "Up N' Down" (7 votes, 50%)
11. "Trouble for Me (10 votes, 71%)
09. "Gasoline (6 votes, 67%)
09. "Trip to Your Heart" (6 votes, 67%)
08. "Inside Out" (14 votes, 78%)
07. "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" (11 votes, 61%)
06. "Big Fat Bass" (7 votes, 58%)
05. "How I Roll" (11 votes, 57%)

what a horrible cd cover, as if she could do that pose these days!
cat, hat; in French, chat, chapeau in Spanish, el gato in a sombrero.
1 Criminal
2 Till The World Ends
3 I Wanna Go
4 Hold It Against Me
FEARLESS FEMALE
I fucking LIVE FOR How I Roll. And it's very rare you'll hear me saying that about a Britney song cuz usually she just ain't that sort of ARTISTÉ for me
kyoko, it's me
5th is FAR better than How I Roll deserved, it's a nasty tuneless mess.
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
Anyway I'd rank the remaining stuff as follows:
01 Criminal
02 I Wanna Go
03 TTWE
04 HIAM
I think that's probably the right top 4 though.
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
All pretty good, but the first single is the weakest left
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
I do like how relatively MASSIVE her leg looks compared to her upper body![]()
I'm glad Criminal is finally getting some votes!
It's like you're screaming . . . and no one can hear;
you almost feel ashamed . . . that someone could be that important
SAVE CRIMINAL - it's one of the best things she's EVER DONE.
'Sue, did the President call?' ... 'No' Last.fm
'Criminal' is the sound of an artist (or rather her writers/producers/management) who FINALLY understands how to pay homage to the material that made her famous rather than just shove some old video clips in the background of a generic fuzzy synth pop track that otherwise bears no relevance to Britney's back catalogue
Criminal IS Britney at her best. I love slutty robotic post-Blackout Britney, but this was the sound that made Britney a STAR
FEARLESS FEMALE
Criminal is a 10/10 by all means.
The other three are just three of my top four songs of 2011, so it simply just can't compete.
What was the problem with Criminal then? It seems like it wasn't a hit anywhere AT ALL!

It went top five in ISRAEL
I genuinely don't know, I guess it deviated a bit too much from the formula that made the previous three hits such big radio hits (well the more recent two, anyway). What I fear though is that they'll take it as a sign to never take any risks with the singles in the future. She hardly NEEDS to, especially with this new X Factor gig, but some slight musical progression these next few years wouldn't hurt... like in the vain of how In The Zone moved her forward a bit after Britney.

as if they are risking it in taking a new direction with the new album. It'll be like Femme Fatale only more BLOATED with dr. Luke/Martin production, robotic vocals and DUBSTEP breakdowns AHOY

Don't get me wrong, I love the MM tunes especially as she tends to get the best tracks. Femme Fatale has its high points but it comes across as more of a vehicle for the best pop songs around rather than a Britney Spears album. At least with Circus, despite not covering any new ground for her, there was an air of POP TRIUMPH around it. FF just seems cold and distant in comparison. It seemed genuinely special to me and it had a warmth to it. And regardless of what actual involvement she had in the album, Blackout was her sonically most adventurous album along with In The Zone.
I don't even know why I'm complaining, I was having multiple moments while exercising to "Till the World Ends" and "How I Roll" just yesterday.

I think it was just too late to be honest. IWG had avideo, but outside of America no one had any clue who was singing it or what even Britney herself was doing. Even with low-key Katy Perry singles the few scattered performances, magazine covers, social media updates etc keeps her in the public eye, increases radio play and video play and people know it's her track they are listening to. Even before Criminal Britney's reach was far too small, as seen by IWG's rather lacklustre peaks (US aside). In fact, the whole album felt that way except for in January when HIAM dropped and for all of 10 or so days she was being talked about.
As much as the music is great, and while she can still sell on the name and goodwill (FF didn't do that dreadfully, yes not great, but over 1.5 million in this climate is nothing to scoff at), she won't reach the levels she once was at unless there is promotion, hype, visibility etc. A real shame, as even though the project did alright, IWG, Criminal and especially TTWE could have been much more massive (ie: TTWE wouldn't have just been a hit but rather one of the years biggest pop hits I imagine).

I think TTWE might be in my Britney Top 5 EVER
cat, hat; in French, chat, chapeau in Spanish, el gato in a sombrero.
TTWE rank:
1. "Till the World Ends"
2. Justin Bieber - "All Around the World"
3. Ke$ha - "Blow"
4. The Wanted - "Chasing the Sun"
