I honestly thought he died about 10 years ago.
Comedian and actor Eric Sykes has died at the age of 89 after a short illness, his manager has said.
Sykes was best-known for writing and performing in a series of TV sitcoms from the 1950s, including Sykes And A... alongside co-star Hattie Jacques.
He also starred in films including Monte Carlo Or Bust, Absolute Beginners, Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines and The Others.

Oh he wasn't dead already then

One of his short comedy films (It's Your Move) was shot just off my road. I think you can see our house in one shot.

He looked half dead in Gormenghast ten years ago.
A normal person must
Dismiss you with disgust
And weep for those who trusted you.
I thought he'd died years ago too. RIP Eric.![]()
Pain is just weakness leaving the body
HOORAY. I have him in the deathpool.
I only really know him for going on Des and Mel seemingly whenever i was off school, and making Mel Sykes nearly wet herself with his tired out old schtick. Oh and Voldemort kills him at the start of Harry Potter 4.
I used to love "Sykes" with Hattie Jacques on UK Gold in the early 90s. I'm sure it was horribly dated even when originally broadcast in the 1870s or whenever but it made me chuckle.
One of those people you always presumed were long dead, like Doris Day.
omgies shampoo are totes cool when i was 17 back in 94 i totally wanted to be them even tho i was boy. but now i'm a girl so it all worked out alright really!
