    I'm about t buy a Macbook Air...

...for work purposes. I'm going for the 13"-er with extra RAM or some such SHIT

Basically, all I'll need it for at THIS stage is word processing, surfing, use of Office stuff (does Office come with it generally or do I need to buy this on top, by the way?) and general "home" computer stuff. The reason we're getting a MAC is because every now and then we have to deal with InDesign stuff and it would be handy just to have one computer that can work with that, though primarily it'll just be used at home.

So is this ALL SOUNDING GOOD or do I need to go for something different (like the PRO or something?)

I KNOW I could browse Apple's site but you're ALL SO CLEVER

MacBook air will be more than fine.

Office doesn't come loaded but you can torrent the enterprise edition (you don't need any crack for it) or just buy it of course.

Will that get me in TROUBLE as it's a work computer, with regards to the torrenting or will they just never know?

    How come I won't need a CRACK?

I doubt they'd ever know although maybe you should play it safe. Because it's enterprise edition (for deployment on multiple computers) it doesn't require an activation code so therefore no crack.

My parents have an Air and it's so lovely and light compared to my Pro. I love using it.

I basically have a Netbook at the moment and I FUCKING HATE IT. I don't need a "proper" laptop for work, but I do need something I can actually type on which this fucker I really can't. So I asked (on the TOTAL off chance) for a Macbook Air thinking they'd reject it, said I wanted it to look "sexy" for when I go to meetings (we have this thing about portraying ourselves as a younger, funkier, bigger company than we actually are) and that we could do with Mac capability somewhere in the business. And they said yes!

They also said "While you're at it, why don't we pay your mobile bill yet?" and so ALL IN ALL, not a bad Tuesday

I was very surprised when someone handed me the Air the other day, carrying around a big 17" bad boy I certainly noticed the difference.

If its work paying for it get them to load office on for you.

I'm currently PONDERING between a 13" Air or MacBook - I can't quite decide at the moment. I don't use my optical drive a lot but I guess you never know when you need it...

The only reason I went for the 15" Pro is because I need the screen real estate but other than that I'd have been straight on the air.

Yes, but everything we pay for comes out of MY bonus...I think I'll just TAKE A LOOK at what OUR PERCE suggests first...

Oh I meant trying the TORRENT

I'm well aware of that but I don't *THINK* I'll need it as it's for work purposes...all my music and stuff is on my PC, so that's where I'll put my cds etc.

You can link the Air to use the CD drive of another computer anyway.

How big are those Super Drives? And are they any good? I mainly use my drive for burning CDs for the car and watching the occasional DVD...
