Southern African Police massacre 34 miners...

    RETRO!

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-19292909

Watching the report brought back memories of watching the hourly morning news in the 1980s on the school holidays, because you were always hoping for an IRA bomb, but all you got was still images from South Africa and maybe Mrs Thatcher doing something.

Weren't the protestors themselves armed? I don't know the FULL STORY but I guess it's a bit different to having a strike over here. Any word from Arthur Scargill dead?

South Africa is such a BAD place to be these days. I wouldn't go near even if you paid me.

Hasn't it always though? My Dad's friend lived there for 2 years, about 10 years ago, specifically to study gun shot and stabbing wounds as they happened multiple times a day without fail (He was some type of CSI figure and not just a SICK FUCK ). He came home as he narrowly escaped 2 car jackings in the space of 2 weeks and didn't want to end up like the people/corpses he was studying.

I spoke to a SA guy in Zambia last year who had fled the country. I know it's only one man's opinion so shouldn't be taken as gospel, but he said it was getting much worse recently.

Fair enough. It's hard to imagine how it could get much worse after hearing some of the stories he told us People lived in constant fear of stopping at traffic lights as the risk of being shot and your car stolen was so great.
