i dunno if this has been posted, it's been shared quite a lot so far on my FB feed and I can't tell of some of these are just a colection of hoax/ghost accounts https://twitter.com/i/moments/796417517157830656
You see reports of racist and sexist attacks in the wake of a racist and sexist president being elected and your first thought is that most of them are hoaxes?
That's why I as ASKING! (or sort of) I dunno, I havent' been thinking clearly lately PENNY My sister lives in the US nowadays, she has children, she's afraid of going out :grr: whenver I see these things being shared I can't help but thinking they MIGHT BE.
The first bunch are all from verified accounts, so likely not hoaxes. Also, Americans are shit houses.
The one with the woman who had her scarf torn in Walmart and told to go hang herself with it broke my heart.
I'm seriously considering not watching any news for the next four years. Reading it is bad enough, but I really cannot bear watching him.
The electoral college meets today and we have some faithless electors - YAY. After 45 states, the current total is: Trump 256 Clinton 135 Colin Powell 3 Faith Spotted Eagle 1
There were two more faithless electors in Texas. Final result (barring any shenanigans in Hawaii): 304 TRUMP 228 CLINTON 3 COLIN POWELL 1 JOHN KASICH 1 RON PAUL 1 FAITH SPOTTED EAGLE
That would need 18 Republican senators to have the backbone to get rid of Trump. John McCain endorsed Trump after he'd said he wasn't a war hero at a time when everyone thought he was going to *lose*. He could be rounding up people into work camps and you'd still have Republican senators blabbing on about the popular will and how Hillary is worse. I'd give it decent odds that the only thing that would get him impeached by the Republican party would be an attempt to raise taxes.
I have to admit, I have no idea how impeachment works. Who decided about Clinton's impeachment? The senate?
The House decides to pursue impeachment and requires a majority vote. There is then a trial in the Senate previews over by the Chief Justice. Two thirds majority needed for conviction.
There were shenanigans - a final vote for Sanders. Here are the final tallies: President: TRUMP 304 (winner) Hillary Clinton 227 Colin Powell 3 John Kasich 1 Ron Paul 1 Bernie Sanders 1 Faith Spotted Eagle 1 Vice President: Mike PENCE 305 (winner) Tim Kaine 227 Elizabeth Warren 2 Maria Cantwell 1 Susan Collins 1 Carly Fiorina 1 Winona LaDuke 1
If someone was to accidentally assassinate Trump and Pence before inauguration what would happen then? President Ryan?
I'm not sure what the convention is if the line of succession pre-inauguration gets taken out, but I think Congress gets the ultimate right of interpretation, so unlikely. She's not in the line of succession.
If we want Hillary as President, the best way would probably to get President Kerry to appoint her as his Vice-President and then resign. I anticipate there would be a certain amount of whining from Republicans if we were to try this.
