The grass is dead, the papers are talking about 1976 and 50 dead in a Greek wildfire. Innit hot?

But at least London and the southeast seems to be in for the worst of it this week.

Work has been so busy over summer that I’ve barely been out in the sun to appreciate it.

I may be the only ghostly white person in Scotland these days. Even the gingers look have more of a glow :(

Most of East Anglia hasn't seen any major rainfall since May.

There were three spots of rain last night. I was utterly bamboozled by the sound coming from outside, that I had to investigate. It's been that long since I experienced rain.

It absolutely pissed it down here last night. The sound was a delight.

We have had an amazing summer compared to the usual overcast, but have had days of peppered showers and a few days of absolute pissing rain (yesterday) in between. After the snow of winter, and the sunshine of summer I am hoping it carries on as for the past few years all seasons seemed to blend in to one.

We've had a few rain showers in the last couple of weeks, enough to dampen the moor fires and improve the air quality but not enough to bring the grass back. I'm not garden proud, the back garden belongs to the dog really, so I don't mind not having to cut the now-dead grass but come winter I fear it'll just be a puddle of mud out there.

I'm absolutely fine with it staying this hot for as long as possible, especially now we've got the office air con sorted. Being a little bit uncomfortable in bed and a slightly clammy commute are small prices to pay as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather this than the other extreme.

We've had one lot of rainfall in 4 weeks, I don't remember anything like it before. I'm still enjoying it though

I don’t like seeing all the dead grass in the parks :(

Other than that it’s fine. I’d just like to sleep a little better.

The only good thing about all this is that the Gammon can no longer preach to the Snowflakes about how 1976 was the best summer ever, and you wouldn't understand etc

I don't really remember 1976. Maybe it didn't get as far as the CUMBRIAN COAST

I'm sick to the tits of people bleating about how it's too hot. I've had a few people tell me they're looking forward to Winter, we had ELEVEN MONTHS of Winter up to March, just enjoy the fucking Sun while we've got it or have the good grace to die of heatstroke.

And that is hot? You don't know what HEAT is. Add 10 degrees to that and now we're talking about a regular (hot) summer. With that I still prefer it to winter.

I slept downstairs last night because it's about 5°C cooler, and that's before I consider the clammy old man next to me.

How hot has it been and for how long?

July has been hell here. It’s usually hot and humid as a bastard for a long summer, but it’s been consistently 35+ (41 in Saitama yesterday) and humidity in the 80%s. HATE IT

From what I've read, Japan's weather recently sounds like real END OF TIME stuff.

I know we've had a few regional differences here and there in the UK, but when did this spell start? I'm guessing start of June? It feels like well over a month.

It’s so hot that I threw some dried pasta, garlic and tomato on the ground and it sizzled itself into a bolognaise! Thanks ‘the Sun’ - I owe you dinner!

It’s a breezy 35 degrees in the south of France for me right now.

Ramping up to FORTY PLUS by the weekend.

I’d add a smiley then indicate my feelings about this but it’s TOO DARN HOT.

It’s pretty dreadful, especially for a summer hater like me. But Osaka summers are hotter than England, so most buildings, restaurants, department stores, trains, buses etc have air conditioning (sometimes rather arctic). At least there’s some defence against it.

I was planning a long weekend in Madrid in September for a bit of autumnal sun, but I think that might be a bit of a busman’s holiday after this Summer.
