Definitely Budapest. I don't want America getting their greedy mitts on it because they're shit at hosting and would introduce a load of shit sports no other country cares enough about to contest.
Paris or Rome would be nice, but I'd like it to go somewhere off the beaten track.
I think Paris deserve something good happening there at the moment. But God... the security would have to be fucking ridiculous.
Rome is beautiful though.. so maybe there.
When are the UK going to put another bid in? Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester? Or just put it back in London. We've got all the stuff here for it now.
We did put on a good spread, so I can't imagine anyone would mind popping back if we put a bid in.
TOO SOON for London
A list of the hosts for the next few Olympic Games recently fell through a time hole, so I thought I'd share it with you.
2024 Budapest, Hungary
2028 Chicago, USA
2032 Durban, South Africa
2036 Paris, France
2040 New Delhi, India
2044 Corbyngrad, England
2048 Los Angeles, Chinese North America
2052 Postponed due to World War III
2056 Reykjavik, Iceland
2060 Nuclear Fallout Safe Zone 6, Western Australia
2064 Redemption, The Deadlands
I'm not thrilled about going up against Chinese North America. No other country will get a bloody look in.
Los Angeles can fuck off, their last one wasn't all that long ago. As for Paris, I just love to watch the French lose.
I'd prefer Budapest, but I wouldn't be upset if Rome got it.
Right now Hungary deserves nothing, and anyway Paris always and forever.
LESS THAN THREE
Good time zone, only a couple of hours away if I want to go in person, and it's been far too long. I'm not convinced Budapest has the finances, and I'm not convinced Italy has the organisational skills. Obviously not LA.
I think Paris has a good chance of reproducing London 2012.
Aren't new sports collectively decided by the IOC rather than the host?
Wasn't LA 1984 one of the only games that actually turned a profit? They used a bunch of existing venues instead of building new ones. Not sure if that included the main stadium (when did that rule about a new stadium come in?)
Budapest or Rome for 2024 definitely.
I need to go to Budapest. Everyone I know who has been recently just came back and said "There's fast, free WiFi EVERYWHERE"
Budapest. It would be great to see it on that side of Europe. Rome would be a good back-up.
You don't need the Olympics (and to wait for eight years) to go to Budapest, but if free wifi is the main ttraction, then maybe you shouldn't go at all.
Budapest. What a setting. Such a gorgeous city.
Poor old Paris.
It's a shame the German Olympic Committee decided to put Hamburg forward instead of Berlin given that the ungrateful Hamburgers promptly had a referendum to say they didn't actually want it. Berlin would have been a shoe-in and would have been an amazing venue given its recent history, 1936 and its regeneration.
Plus it would have given them a date to aim for to get that new airport FINALLY OPEN
They did WHAT? Was it just the €€€ that put them off?
In order of preference
Is Berlin's airport STILL not open?
It seems very un-German.
I missed this thread the first time around. Definitely Paris for me. Budapest would be nice too but I just can't see it going to a more obscure country any more.
And who knows about security, both London and Rio have shown that so much can change between a country being awarded the games and the contest itself.
What five days ago?
Not with their current government.
So it's Paris vs LA then. I couldn't care less.
It was inevitable given the lack of support in Hungary.
Good riddance I say.
It would be wonderful to have the games so close.
When is the vote? Hopefully Trump has alienated enough people to vote for anyone but the US.
LA it'll be then.
I really hope Paris get it! Easy for us to jump on a train!! (And Trump could still be president then - who would want THAT Olympics...? God it really would be like Germany's history repeating itself if he was president during an Olympics in his own country...)
LA beating Paris won't have the same joy as:
ALLEZ PARIS PUTAIN!
