Amazingly this album is already four years old in May, and I've been playing it a lot this week. For me it's easily her best body of work since Emancipation, but I've never really rated Memoirs and I know a lot of people do.

Anyway, where do we stand on this opus?

The vocals sound quite strained at parts, especially in Camouflage. But despite that, 24 years into her career and her writing, her melodies and her production were still solid and high quality. That's my favourite thing about this album. It shows how consistent her talent is, even now.

Dedicated is the standout to me. The whistles in that are beautiful.

Sorry for stating the obvious but how the hell is this already four years old?! It was released just the other day.

Some parts of it where truly amazing. I like it more than the album before it.

I wanted to like it but it's on the wrong side of dull with no real standouts (for me). I'd struggle to hum the majority of songs and I bought the album. Memoirs was far superior.

I think the vocals are extremely solid throughout, especially compared to Memoirs where on many songs you can literally hear each vocal take being stitched together (H.A.T.E. U. being the worst offender).

Dedicated is an absolute stone cold classic. The rest is varying degrees of very good.

The more important questions are: why the album didn’t come right after #beautiful, why boring You’re Mine (Eternal) was chosen as the lead single, and wher the fuck is TRIUMPHANT??

#Beautiful, YDKWTD (bar the awful intro) and Meteorite are definitely amongst her post-Emancipation best.

    It wasn’t ready, was it?

I always felt that #Beautiful was an anomaly in the album campaign. It seemed completely at odds with almost anything else on there.

She kept trying for a hit 'buzz' single, not realizing that #Beautiful was as good as it was ever gonna get. That song makes me sad because it could've easily been pushed further to be a Top 10.

"Beautiful" just takes me back to Summer 2013, god I love it

I haven't listened to the album in ages but "Meteorite","You Don't Know What to Do" were the only ones that left an impression

Make it Look Good is fantastic. Camouflage is on of my favourites for the very reasons KindaCooldislikes it, I don't think she sounds strained I think it's a way we've never heard her sing before and I'm here for it.

The Art of Letting Go is one of her best ever and it should've opened the album instead of Cry.

You're Mine is really the only song I find little to anything redeeming in.

On the whole agree that for the stage in her career she's at its an incredibly consistent and slick album that shows regardless of the lack of hits the quality is as high as ever.

I think the sitting/reclining approach was due to the fact he's shorter than her (even before the heels)

I think it may be my least favourite of hers. Apart from the 2nd Xmas album I do have them all. I actually thought it was going to a good album in the lead up. The fact that she included 2 Memoirs tracks as bonus indicate (in my opinion) that she knew the album needed help. They are also the best songs on it.

She only included them to give them an official release because the Memoirs remix album got shelved, no?

I never play Memoirs, I think it's held up terribly for the mostpart. Awful production.
