I was a bit surprised we don't have a thread for this yet.

Anyway, lovely album start to finish pretty much... A-ha and Simple Minds in particular seem to always make me feel nostalgic in an extraordinary way, which is strange as I was not around back then but it still holds up. The title track and "Living a Boy's Adventure Tale" are real gems in particular.

It's hard to imagine they fell off the face of the Earth as far as the US was concerned after this album.

I don't actually have the album, but it's worth at least an 8 for 4 briliant & 1 above average single.

Went and saw this being played live last night and been hammering a-ha all day today. Whilst Mags remains the Daddy of choice, it must be said that Morten was looking pretty fine for a 60 year old and is still in magnificent voice- truly one of the great vocalists of all time for me, and hideously underrated.

Anyway, back to this and surprised that this thread hasn't had much traction. It really is a wonderful album, despite the album tracks being dwarfed by "those" singles, but is actually only my second favourite a-ha album, after the comeback Minor Earth, Major Sky. It's long been the case that "Hunting High and Low" is amongst my favourite songs of all time, but last night just cemented it. 4 minutes of sheer perfection.

    10 Take on Me
    09 Train of Thought
    11 Hunting High and Low

    10 Living a Boy's Adventure Tale
10 The Sun Always Shines on TV
    07 And You Tell Me
    09 Love is Reason
    08 I Dream Myself Alive
08 Here I Stand and Face the Rain

I remember getting the CASSETTE out of DORCHESTER LIBRARY which was always a good way of investigating things you wouldn't want to FORK OUT FOR or might not otherwise think of listening to and to my SURPRISE it was a REALLY GOOD ALBUM

Here I STAND and FACE the RAIN
I know that nothing's GONNA be the SAME AGAIN
I fear for what TOMOOOROOOOW BRINGS!

Used to love a library take out. For some reason, I’d get Cher’s 1987 rock album fortnightly. One week on, one week off.

I also remember being obsessed with a Cliff Richard album cover in which he was sat in front of a photo of the same scene he was in, which therefore just endlessly repeated. I wish I knew how to describe that better. :D

Still, can’t imagine it’s the first time Cliff has had a 10 year old boy study him with a mix of bemusement and fear for an extended period....

I've moved from Morten to Mags over the years. Obviously I'd still very gratefully receive either though.

Whichever you preference, I'm sure we can all agree that Pål still looks like a turtle freshly ripped from its shell.

Oh I'd say I've gone the other way - I preferred Mags in the '80s but Morten is like a FINE WINE :disco:
