'Easy' is A-List on Radio 2 aswell.

Can't believe they've not bothered with a video for 'Callin Me When I'm Lonely'.

Gosh, it really can be that bad then. The self-titled album means so much to me - she must have hated Alanis that year. '96 really is my favourite radio year.

#16 in the UK for the new album. I didn't expect it to chart that high to be honest. It's a good enough record but there's no real need to own it. Something happens to these singer-songwriter ladies once they make money, have kids. The material goes downhill. Amp up the misery for art.

Yep, the album is incredibly MOR. There's some nice songs on there but it's far from an essential listen. I hope she announces some UK tour dates though as I've yet to see her live and always wanted to.

Yeah I didn't buy it. Had a good listen to the clips and it's way outside my comfort zone. And the single is so bland. I did download Homesick though which is nice, and am enjoying that.

I'm still sceptical about this but I may give it a go if and when it's cheap!

Sheryl is one of my all-time favourite artists! She's never come close to topping those first 3 albums, but she doesn't really do bad albums. Love her!

    My ranking:

    1. The Globe Sessions A+
    2. Sheryl Crow A+
    3. Tuesday Night Music Club A
    4. C'mon, C'mon B
    5. Wildflower B
    6. Threads B
    7. Feels Like Home B
    8. Detours B
    9. Be Myself B
    10. 100 Miles to Memphis C-

The Globe Sessions and Sheryl Crow are heads and shoulders above the rest though some of the others are very good. I’ll have to have a think about the others.

Some of the mid to late period ones kind of blur into one for me. I never got round to listening to Threads in full.

Sheryl is my favourite female artist. I LOVE her so.

quick songs top ten of the top of my head which is impossible because I love so much stuff:

    1. Wildflower
    2. Run Baby Run
    3. The Difficult Kind
    4. Weather Channel
    5. Riverwide
    6. My Favourite Mistake
    7. Maybe Angels
    8. Hard To Make A Stand (acoustic version)
    9. No one Said It Would Be Easy
    10. I Know Why

as you can see I like my Sheryl mean n moody

I do love the pop singles but her bluesy retrospective stuff is just too bloody good.

I was shocked at how good Threads is. There are so many gorgeous songs on that album, and I had pretty much written it off before I'd ever even heard it.

I do like Tell Me When It's Over.

I was just on Spotify to look up Threads for some night time listening and can see she's been fairly prolific this year. In The End I was already familiar with, and is very much in her classic uptempo sound but she sounds wonderful on the new duet out today, almost Emmylou-ish - wish her solo part was a little longer:

I just watched her do a fantastic live set from outside her barn. A full show, with mostly songs from the first 3 albums. It was sublime! She’s doing an acoustic set tomorrow from inside the barn/studio.

She’s always dropping random tracks now, I think she said she wasn’t recording any more albums - I hope she changes her mind.

Yes she said Threads would be her last full album because of the changes to the industry and it's just not commercially viable for her anymore :(

I wonder if not being able to tour will change her mind. Everyone’s coming out of the woodwork with albums this year, it’s not a coincidence. Millionaires gotta eat.

I don’t think she’s enjoying that in these streaming eras she’s not selling by the bucket load and topping charts anymore and can’t be bothered. I’m sure if she was so inclined she could easily market profitably to her fanbase with limited editions of album formats etc.

By the way, didn't she sell off her entire back catalogue a few years ago for $15m? I wonder if she has to pay to sing her own songs now.

Most of them are very good though, regardless of the theme. But yeah, it's somewhat scattershot. I think she was poorly managed for a large part of her career.

Found the details of that deal here:

S1 Songs Group has acquired the Sheryl Crow music publishing catalogue and agreed to a co-publishing agreement for Crow’s future works.
The deal was valued in the Wall Street Journal as being worth in excess of $10 million.
An announcement characterized the deal as enabling the singer to write and record more music for film and TV.
Under the arrangement, S1 Songs adds 153 songs released by Crow between 1993 and 2008 to its existing portfolio of over 30,000 songs.

“This is a landmark deal for S1 Songs. Sheryl is an icon in the female singer-songwriter genre and was a ground-breaker who paved the way for many of the current successful female singer-songwriters who are dominating the global charts,” said S1 Songs Group global CEO Steve McMellon.
Crow added, “I am very excited about the S1 plans for my music and look forward to a good positive working arrangement.”
