Not sure if there is a topic for this, but it being my 2nd fave ABBA album I though I should create one anyway. I've included bonus tracks and both version of Summer Night City but not the Spanish versions of I Have A Dream, Chiquitita and Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!.

    00 As Good As New
    00 Voulez-Vous
    00 I Have A Dream
    00 Angeleyes

    00 Does Your Mother Know?
00 If It Wasn't For The Nights

It gets a 10 overall because although the average may be less than that on the face of it, it actually has 4 songs that are all 11s on it (and that's just the original tracklisting before bonuses). I can't pick just one to bestow 11 on.

I found it really hard too, but the Extended Version of Summer Night City always 'grabs' me as soon it changes from the ballad intro into the normal music.

I must say, despite not liking the album version, the live one is all kinds of amazing.

The notion of any Mamma Mia! rendition improving on the original seems quite alien to me, but I do tend to agree in this case.

Solid 9 for me, my second favourite LP of theirs.

I am the same in general, apart from maybe Meryl's version of TWTAI this is the only instance I would think the same. I always wanted Agnetha to do the note Meryl did.

Voulez Vous is my favourite ABBA album EVER. Pretty much all of the album could have been a single either in it's own right or as a double a-side in my opinion.

I'm still pissed that there doesn't seem to be a Deluxe Version coming out with a bonus dvd of Snowtime Special, the Unicef performance of 'Chiquitita', and the Japanese promos they did for 'Summer Night City' :(

Yet, B+B will stop at nothing to milk the cash cow that is the ABBA brand DRY, and they havent done that just yet.

Don't get me started on B&B... I still don't know why they don't release the full versions of 'Just A Notion' and 'Just Like That'. Agnetha has said she hopes 'Just Like That' gets released and Carl Mangus Palm has confirmed that 'Just A Notion' is a completed song as the second verse and chorus is what is used on ABBA-undeleted.

I mean there are of course the 3 versions of Just Like That out ther, the Na Na Na and the Saxophone ones being my favourite.
It leaves it open for them to bring out new compilations in the future with them as bonus tracks to trap the fans into buying them and making them more money. Like More ABBA Gold and Thank You For The Music (1994).

Yeah but its just Spanish versions of already recorded songs, 2 of which are on this album. Gracias Por La Musica does have THE worst cover in all history

I mean sure it was 1980 and all, but WTF, though there was worse to come from Frida

That isn't going to happen. B&B don't regard ABBA's version of 'Just Like That' good enough to release in full.

Who knows, it might even have lured blasts from the past like MR and MaryS to Moopy. Who remembers the weekly Weekend Poll? ("What's your favourite Waterloo album track with a Björn lead vocal?")

I like the design of the Spanish album actually(*), even if in this day of e-mail, Facebook and whatnot the airmail envelope motif has become a bit of an antiquity.

(not so much the jumpsuits, the BOOTS and Benny's chest hair :gross: )

I'm a Benny convert since that Jonathan Ross interview and Hampstead Heath gig. He seemed far less of a grumpy old bastard than I'd thought previously.

I don't know what they're problem is with "Just Like That". Aren't they saying now that they can never release it because of the Gemini version that's out there. The phrase from "Under Attack" can't help things either.

I wish they would though... it's absolutely brilliant and far superior to "Dream World" which somehow was deemed worthy of release. Whilst they're at it, they can also shove out the Chess demos as there are some crackers on that too. Elaine's version of "Just Like That" is pretty nice, and the stunning "When The Waves Roll Out To Sea" (yet another recycling of the song) EVEN BETTER.

God I LOVE "Just Like That"- the thing is, if they polished that up and shoved it out there, it absolutely would be a #1 single...WITHOUT FAIL. And the inevitable compilation that would follow would certainly give them enough cash to keep the JEWELS FLOWING

You really really reckon a brand new Abba single, which had never been heard by 95% of the population with full publicity, would NOT ?

I agree with Sheena, a new ABBA single could do really well, and nobody would even know it was used in 'Under Attack' as barely anyone even knows it.

I agree. The 'Under Attack' issue just ISN'T an issue. I'm not convinced it would get to #1, however. Although no doubt it would be big, if Agnetha could manage #11 a few years back, albeit in a different chart climate. And this would come with a lot more hype (if probably ZERO promo from anyone).

That danced up version of the Na Na version that some loon has cobbled together from the leak (the Mat Mix or something) that is doing the rounds at the moment has really got my ABBA MOJO on this week.

Get in the vaults. They wouldn't even have to do any tweaking, "Just Like That" is finished, isn't it?

Is this a NEW remix, then ? I had a dance mix AGES AGO that I thought was rubbish. But if it's a recent one, then can you put it in MARIA WHITTAKER'S 32DD BAZONGAS, please?

Well they couldn't release the SAXOPHONE version of "Just Like That", let's just say that...:D

    REGGAE version PLEASE :|

I don't know if that mix is new, it probably isn't and it's cheesy as all hell, but I have to say I am LOVING it

Though I AM partial to the wrist slitting Chess version:

And when the waves roll out to sea
I know that he won't return for many days to come
I'll be waiting for him on this windy pier yet another year

And when the waves roll out to sea
I'm a woman with a wound that always burns
I'm forever waiting. Will I see what becomes of me?

I never understood B&B's arguement over 'Just Like That'. They say it will never get released in full because they used a snippet in 'Under Attack' but yet the same is for 'Dream World' that found itself into 'Does Your Mother Know' and is much more obvious.

I agree that Benny seems less grumpy in his more recent interviews so maybe he has mellowed a bit. Perhaps in a few years for the 20th anniversary of 'Gold' they'll finally release 'Just Like That' and 'Just A Notion' in full. It's not comepletely out of the question as who would have thought in the early 90's they would have ever released 'Dream World', 'Put On Your White Sombrero' and 'I Am The City'??

Lastly, I don't really rate Gemini's version of 'Just Like That' compared to the superior Na Na Na ABBA version but Elaine's 'When The Waves Roll Out To Sea' is nice enough.

Personally I think Benny has been a bit less grumpy recently because he's been talking about BAO, rather than Abba or Mamma Mia.

Yeah that's more than likely but he didn't seem too pissed off or bored when the inevitable ABBA questions came up.
