Kylie's lead single is dropping in January and apparently it sounds "not a million miles from Janet's That's The Way Love Goes”.

It's also "a risk” apparently, although exactly what's at risk I'm not entirely certain

That reference point has been promised by so many artists and I’ve yet to see any evidence of it following through.

I thought the album was actually called 'Single One' then and whimpered.

I suppose any kind of thinking outside the box is preferable to another Kylie-by-numbers comeback like Into The Blue.

But I can't help thinking of the last time an artist I loved declared her forthcoming comeback single to be 'a risk'.

To be fair whatever she releases won't be a hit anyway. So as long as the album is good...

By the numbers Kylie all the way please.

Something that sounds good and you can dance to. Fuck the charts.

Ugh, not here for a laidback 90s R&B groove from our Kyles.

Maybe she should do a tropical house track, just to help kill it off.

I'm quite game for something new, as long as it's not "hit chasing" new, if that makes sense...

There's nothing worse than a middle aged woman cavorting around like she's 21.

    Unless your name is Cher.

Definitely. Some innovation, rather than chart-nodding would be right up my avenue.

I'd have at least thought you'd think a middle aged man cavorting around like he's 21 was worse :basil:

I know another Confide or Slow is probably not likely but something a bit different could be wonderful.

Body Language is fine but it's her worst album. But still better than Hard Candy.

I’m not averse to something a bit different but there is a part of me that would just love her to come back with a BIG ‘everything including the kitchen sink’ Kylie pop tune.

I actually think that could be the best move for her in the current climate. It would likely be chart poison, but look how well Steps have done just by playing to their strengths rather than chasing a hit.

Whilst I love Pop Kylie, that isn't working necessarily. If she makes something interesting, gets some decent reviews, it could do her career a world of good and give it the shot in the arm it currently needs. What HASN'T she done that is necessarily within her reach? Make a quite personal album, for starters...

Let's face it, it's relative anyway- it's not going to be a DEATH BY NAPALM sampling album of 12 minute songs about the death of society, now IS IT?

I guess whatever she does, she needs to do it with conviction. My biggest criticism of the last few albums would be that there are times when she appears to just be coasting (‘Into The Blue’, for example, is lovely but a completely predictable move after ‘All The Lovers’).

I think pop would work if she went at it FULL PELT. Equally, an introspective album will only work if it’s done PROPERLY, not like ‘X’ where for every glimpse of insight, there were two more tracks that were completely by-the-numbers.

The "Kylie by numbers" accusation of "Into The Blue" earlier surprised me, and this has further. The PROBLEM with "Into The Blue", which I liked on an average level, is that it was actually trying TOO HARD to chase the trend of the time. It was about as radio friendly as it could have been a tune, but it really WASN'T her. The same argument which could have been made for "I Was Gonna Cancel" too (and I LOVED that before the video destroyed it for me...)

Into The Blue was just quite insipid, IWGC belonged in 2013 with Blurred Lines.

Body Language is leagues ahead of Kiss Me Once.

I properly loved it but the video has made me never want to play it again. It's only when I throw "Kiss Me Once" on and it crops up do I remember I really like it...

I don't mind "All I See" to this day. It was just STUPIDLY ill advised:

    a) As fitting in on "X"
    b) As a single
