They just used the pic from the week she went to #1 but I like the idea of this instead!

Oh yes. But I think we ought to use that photo every time she releases anything from henceforth :disco:

The RIDICULOUS nature of those cassette releases paid off.

And my original one is still in my "to sell" cupboard as a result

Ugh they need to stop trying to make cassettes happen. Vinyl I get (and even that bubble is about to burst) but cassette was always shite.

Does ANYONE think audio cassettes sound good? The only advantage they had over vinyl was portability, and now you don't need to have a physical item at all, WHY ON EARTH BOTHER?

Mind you, I assume 90%+ of all cassettes are bought by loon collectors and never played.

Those hot Latin rhythms will be even hotter if it sounds like someone’s put a cardigan over the speaker :disco:

I don’t think that cassettes sound appalling by default but they definitely made them sound worse to make everyone buy (ahem) compact discs instead. As indeed they did with vinyl

A Kylie cassette I can just about stomach (albeit not buy) but the notion of a MADONNA CASSETTE in 2019 is a step beyond, not least because she’ll be almost certainly rubbing herself up with it on Instagram #cassette #sohip #skincarerange #mdnaoutnow

I swim around the dark waters of experimental music and tapes never stopped being currency. People still launch cassette only labels and sell out of a couple of hundred on the blighters in Japan and the US or 70-100 in the UK.

None of this is in the official figures of course because they don't make it to the shops.

It’s the OH GOD IT’S FUCKING CHEWING IT UP thing which ultimately put me off cassettes, and obviously classic artists like Enya did sound better and that much more mystical on CD. I still miss doing a compilation on a nice, high quality TDK :(

The ap[peal is easy to see - cassettes are a nicely presented nothing - a cheap physical item which almost always comes with a download but usually works out the same as just the download or even cheaper. On Bandcamp, you regularly see cassettes at the same price or just $1 more than the download. People still get a thing to own and it doesn't cost £25 like an LP.

Oh the dilemma of either leaving a 1-2 minute blank space at the end or bunging a song on which cut off half way through. I usually went for the latter option.

Oh my erstwhile latent autistica tendencies never allowed me to do the latter. A nice acapella or blank space always did very nicely :disco:

I just couldn’t abide the sudden CHOP :argh:

I liked putting unlisted tracks at the ends of the sides. Something short and unsettling. I miss that a bit.

I was once mortified as a young ‘un to discover my mum standing at my bedroom door as I was recording myself singing Samantha Fox’s Touch Me and yes it was the “like a tramp in the night...” section.

With 50 seconds to spare, I always found that this put party guests in the disco mood and all revved up for side 2 :disco:

Both. And pre-voice breaking I was fairly convincing, even if the accent did make her sound rather Julie Burchill.

I’m shocked for Kacey but both totally deserved a nomination. Who was nominated? Please don’t tell me Mariah is also out in the cold.

Camila Cabello? That’s such a joke. Kylie’s album was bigger here and both she and Kacey had successful sold out tours. If Ariana is nominated there’s no need for Camila.

I do think Kylie was robbed/snubbed in that category. Shame there isn't a CASSETTE-CAT.

You know what the BRITS are like. Camila probably confirmed she'd be happy to show up.

I was hoping Kylie would open the show with her first Brits PERF since 'WOW'

She probably just LIKED ONE OF THEIR TWEETS.

A snub for Kylie (and Kacey) is ridiculous but totally predictable.

No shade on Kylie, but I do wonder if punters at the 1988 BRITS were all like "I can't BELIEVE they snubbed Dame Shirley Bassey, what a joke!"
