This is just by means of a small description to illustrate my thoughts and feelings about the particular image I've chosen for the album cover. This album contains songs that are deeply personal and emotional. In a sense I have "exposed" myself through the work to reveal aspects of an inner world which are fragile. Broken through experience, but not entirely smashed. I am not a young artist in their early twenties. I am a mature woman facing up to the failed expectations of life and facing up to "core" issues. I don't want to represent myself visually in some kind of clinched, airbrushed, saccharine kind of way. I want to reveal myself as I am. For me, this is a powerful and courageous statement. I have never been known to "toe the safety line". In terms of how I represent myself as an artist, I need to be authentic... To take risks...To break the mould when necessary. The "posture" of the image refers back to earlier days of Eurythmics with the "Touch" cover, only this time I have now turned to face the audience eye to eye, as it were. I am as "Bare" as the title suggests. Though not entirely exposed. The image is timeless, genderfree, and racially ambiguous. I could be a statue. A ghostly apparition, or an indian Saddhu. The false lashes represent the artifice of "performance", the colour has been drained from my mouth (where words and sounds issue form) to saturate the title with redness, (signifying lifeforce and anger). I hope it makes sense to you.

    Love Annie

Oh this should be GOOD. There's been (or will be) LOADS of potentially very good Christmas albums this year, how very pleasing.

Annie seems to have reclaimed her quirkiness with that video. Haven't seen that side of her since the Medusa album...

That video's great, but I can't help feeling that i could do with a bit more colour... it looks a bit drab.

Am I missing something with that video? It's UTTER CRAP.

And the less said about the FOGHORN rendition of the song itself, the better.

I have no interest in Annie Lennox whatsoever but I rather like that song. I could never listen to a Lennox album from start to finish though, those vocals start to grate after a song or two.

By the way, I still can't believe those pretentious liner notes are for real! Who does she think she is? :D

    show some RESPECT

she might be a self-indulgent righteous foghorn these days but she's still a LEGEND. She could show some of today's singers a THING OR TWO.

The Edwardian stylings are all well and good but I bet they're prompted by some sentiment along the lines of Christmas being too commercialised and that things were better when you could shove a 9 year old up a chimney to get it clean. Unfortunately they're also UGLY.

I bet Annie's kids get a SATSUMA (ecologically sourced thankyouverymuch) in their hessian stockings (handwoven natch) CHEZ ANNIE and CHUFF ALL else*. I bet they can't wait to get out the house and round to their Dad's so they can gorge on Quality Street and play on the Wii.

Chrissie Hynde was on Market Kitchen once and was trying to give Matt Tebbutt a lecture about how selfish he was for cooking and eating meat. He was clearly amused by it and just didn't give a toss. She got more and more irate as the interview went on, and then sulkily cooked some TOFU and MUNG BEANS or something.

The album is actually quite good. If you're an Annie Lennox fan then you'll like it. I'm definitely not one who buys christmas albums but I made the exception for this one and the Saint Etienne album this year.

The video isn't anything really special, I think it's more a web ad for the album.

I'm listening to this album on Spotify now and it's horrible. I feel like I'm stood in the middle of a nightmarish Christmas market being shouted at by a mad old cat lady.

yeah I don't like it either. Proper shouty and dull. Her voice doesn't suit the execution she was going for.

I downloaded two songs for keeps and have barely listened to them. Not when magical stuff like SARAH DAWN FINER is around...

Ironically it's probably her most successful album since "Medusa"...

Yeah it's selling well. I'd hate to be sat around the family dining table with this RACKET blasting out of the speakers. About as festive as date rape.

    Oh Annie, what happened? :(

She disappeared up her own ARSE, that's what.

If only the dreary bitch gave the listeners of this tripe a fraction of the concern that she does for her STARVING AFRICANS.

Do it Christian. I want to share my bewilderment at this collection of deranged jamrag carols.

I've endured it up to 'As Joseph Was A Walking' which is genuinely one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life. :zombie:

That's pretty much what I thought as well. Why does she sound so BLOODY ANGRY on it? It doesn't sit well with the naffness of the Marks and Spencer Christmas biscuit tin design at all.

She's so FUCKING EARNEST. If there's one thing I've been consistent with since being at Sixth Form College sometime in the 1800's, it's my enduring hatred of WORTHY :manson:
