Live turned off btw so people can go back and catch up. Spotify will be available tomorrow after the second lot.
Lovely recap as always @ZenGiraffe! Love the little Manson tube map. Some songs are already popping more than on the first listen. I guess some just suit 10 second snippets
This song by The Vandals reminds me of 'Forever Young' in the verses. I'm guessing you all hated this during the viewing party, didn't you?
Jesus Christ @Kate that recap video, did you put that together? I want video editing lessons now please! the only track I’ve heard of is Biig Piig. Some good tunes there. Calling it now: Luke Million is gonna win.
Oh @ZenGiraffe is it. Top work. Can you please hold a moopy zoom class and show us how you do it. I’ll get @Star to pay you in moopy coins. She reckons they’re worth loads on the dark web but don’t quote me on that, she’s the one with the shady links.
Well I didn't hate everything. A certain song in French is giving me a WHIFF of my own past work in here which I'm not really mad about. The Anna Straker song is a huge banger. Lambretta omg. I remember this one playing on music channels back when I was a less toxic homosexual. Joe Goddard fills that experimental, obscure and really interesting electronic music hole a bit. The Sleigh Bells song was in high rotation a few years ago. Big Pig was also a highlight and Luke Million was nice too. The rest can choke.
Stefy - Chelsea: I already knew this one, and I do like it, but less so than when I discovered it a few years ago. Sleigh Bells: I know them but not this song. I like the intensity of it. I can see myself listening to it a lot after this. It is a lot more poppy than I remember them being (not a bad thing for me) Julie Bergan: Like a less good Dua Lipa song. I already had this in my library but I have no memory of it. Stronger verses than chorus. Luke Million: I like it I guess but Im not hearing what everyone else is (I'm reading the reactions as I listen) Suzane: French isn't really my favorite language for music (with a few exceptions), but this does have a nice big chorus (and the trumpet breakdown ) Mirrors: Melancholy and Hurts-esque, but also kind of banger? I don't know exactly what accent he has, but it sounds like some mid-2000s indie band I can't think of right now. LOVE IT Joe Goddard: Sounds like a grower, and I can't really say if I like it that much yet. The Vandals: Well this is at least an interesting concept for a song. I hate to say it, but I am a Weezer fan. This is like a subpar version of them. Lambretta: Nice chorus, but the rest of the song is um... "Who's she, looking goofy in a Gucci dress" Indira: I think I would like it (but never actively choose to listen to it) if it wasn't for her unpleasant voice. I even actively like the instrumental part of the chorus. Biig Piig: I already know and love this one. I have very mixed feelings about her name.
That was enough for tonight. This is way more fun listening with everyone else I hope everyone noticed the Vandal's amazing album name and cover
Nina Simone - Another act I've heard of. This sounds exactly like what I thought it would, but the lyrics are darker than I expected. Hard to rank amongst these other ones Madison Beer - Very pretty! I can't believe how good this round is so far. Nothing I actually dislike at all. Anna Vissi - A little Eurovision (a good thing). Stands out, but I haven't decided if I like it or not yet. MONDO GROSS (good name) - Sounds like songs that I like, but its not really grabbing me. Maybe a grower. Anna Straker - BASIC (I say as I listen to it 100 times)
