This is fairly incredible in a slightly old school pop way.

I think I'll be spinning the shit out of it for some time

So this is fucking HUGE right now in Scandinavia, and currently #1 in Sweden. It really gives me The Fame/Natalia Kills (before she became a cunt) vibes, and also a bit Kim Petras, I think. It's quite the earworm, and I think could take off here...

Best not to watch the appalling video though. This will definitely be a hit across Europe in time.

That’s a MASSIVE climb! Christmas number 1 is actually a good bet I think! The chart run for this is so interesting.

This is great but it could do with more of a build or something deranged and disintegrating going on in the middle eight in a weird key signature

    SOPHIE REMIX NOW :disco:

I'm not quite sure how I've not mentioned how much I love this SONG OF THE YEAR and have done for QUITE A WHILE NOW. I see it's edging closer and closer to the top of the iTunes chart.

With this, Marina, Rita Ora, Kylie(!), Little Mix, Lady Gaga and Charli xcx all performing well at the moment, my faith in pop music is officially RESTORED.

Mental health campaigners will go to town if this goes to number 1 in the real charts.

Up to #2 in the midweeks. Ariana has quite the lead still but would be great to see this at #1

New song called "Blood, Sweat and Tears" is out Friday and samples Disparate Youth

So this is now #1 and I'm amazed it hasn't garnered more attention on here.

What an amazing pop song and easily one of the best number ones from the last few years. I've no idea if she can keep it up but her other songs and videos are promising

While I'm a LITTLE BITTER that she couldn't make it one week earlier, what a fabulous start to 2019. Easily my favourite UK chart topper of the past 12 months.

Here's to more vapid but hooky pop tunes in the new year :disco:

I'm becoming nervous in wondering how she'll follow this up, but have to keep reminding myself that one phenomenal throwback pop song is not worth becoming invested in as it will likely all end in tears. On the other hand, PopJustice seems to hate her so that bodes well for an actual career.

It's nice that it has a proper chorus instead of the weird modern approach of just replacing that with some instrumental hook.

Does the chorus sample something? I swear the tune is familiar and from something else but a search says apparently not?

I spent the last two weeks in the US and I came accross THIS little tune every once in a while in a local radio station which follows suit with the current nostalgia, I can't believe the "in" thing nowadays is to release a song with an actual melody and a sing-a-long chorus (complete with a TOTALLY 2000's vocoder middle 8)

There is a thread on this song here:

    http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/threads/sigrid-sucker-punch.96325/

Poor Sigrid. BBC sound of 2018, one just about top ten single and all momentum seemingly long squandered by year's end. She still has an album scheduled in March.

BBC Sound Of seems to have become a poisin challis since streaming took over the charts. Still, Jack Garrat in 2016 and Ray BLK in 2017 make Sigrid look like a world conquering pop phenomenon by comparison.

Streaming has made it so much harder to break new acts in general. Look at how long it took Dua Lipa and Ann Marie to finally get their Greatest Hits... sorry debut albums out

She had decent TV promo as well. I've grown to prefer it Strangers.
