I Miss You is the most heart-wrenching incredible song. It makes me want to hack at my wrists (in a good way).

My Beyonce-obsessed friend played it for me yesterday and I must admit it sounded pretty good.

You'd love her actually. She knows the full choreo to Videophone and she recently lost about 2.5 stone (that's an old pic) which she credits entirely to the motivational power of the Beyonce Freemasons Mixes. :disco:

Is that chorus not just VIDEOPHONE, VIDEOPHONE repeat 5000 times?

HEAR HEAR/HERE on both fronts. "Choreo" is one of the WORST contractions of recent months and POP! does insist on ENDLESSLY using it.

The less said about this dreary album the better though. Less staying power than even that GHASTLY Gaga affair!

Anyway, ENOUGH about VoR's friendship circle and MORE PRAISE for the ALBUM OF THE YEAR!

It's a GREAT ALBUM. Yeah it's not all gold and there could well be stronger out in the later months of 2011, but there's some instant, natural and timeless feeling hooks, a wonderful gamut of emotions being run, and some fabulous lyrics delivered in a cracking little way. ALL accompanied with a tuneful OOMPH that grabs you and renders things frequently danceable, but with a glorious dark edge.

    8.5/10

    6/10 tops

If it wasn't for I Was Here I would be happy to pretend it never happened and just play the holy trinity of Disappear/Halo/Radio on LOOP until 2014.

Well PRAISE BE for some SENSE. It's FINE, has a nice FEEL to it and a few nice TUNES but it's really nothing more than PURE FLUFF.

8.5 TP? Really? Of all the albums you've ever heard, this is up there with the VERY BEST?

Who said anything about THIS OLD THING?! I was doing what louf wanted, and going OFF TOPIC to give more praise for the album of the year.

It'd probably make more sense in the Lykke Li thread, really. And yeah when you put it like that it's more of a generous 8, but a damn good effort nonetheless.

I'd give it a 7/10 which is much better than I expected it to ever be after my first listen. The sequencing still bothers me, and I don't really ever want to hear "Rather Die Young" or "Run the World (Girls)" ever again. But "I Miss You", "End of Time", "I Was Here", "Best Thing I Never Had" are all great

The sequencing is awful. She should have kicked things off with End of Time or at least Countdown to give it some pace before you head into 6 ballads on the trot!

    this album is still amazing.

the basic gays still have their Scherzingers and Keshas for endless casio drivel. I head Cher Lloyd has an album out soon. Who needs Beyonce, hey?

Is Countdown going to be the next single then? That's my LEAST favourite.

    I really don't want Countdown

though i'm sure the video will be an entertaining interlude

what I'm worried about is that they're just going to throw out a load of videos all at once in some kind of post-physical era social media strategy

I'm sorry but you still need a specific single to pitch to radio and doing it simultaneously is disastrous nine times out of ten

I will not forgive them for making End Of Time a flop

I imagine she's doing as many videos as she can while Best Thing climbs the charts. That way they can shove songs out as and when they take off at radio.

I listened to this a few times and I'm ready to rate :disco:

    07 1+1
    06 I Care
    08 I Miss You
07 Best Thing I Never Had
    05 Party
    03 Rather Die Young
    07 Start Over
    06 Love On Top
    04 Countdown
    10 End Of Time
    10 I Was Here
    09 Run The World (Girls)

I think it flows nicely as an album and I generally prefer dull Beyonce to upbeat Beyonce so I'm happy with some of the tracks. I think the last three tracks are all amazing and so is I Miss You. I don't really like Best Thing I Never Had, it's just a shoutier version of Irreplaceable.

Why is she releasing Countdown?? hasn't she learned anything? End of Time you silly bitch.
