Because I'm a) bored and b) bored I thought I'd to Lolly's top celeb deaths my making note of the most posted about news stories on Moopy:

    1. UK 2010 General Election results + aftermath (2010)
    2. Brexit Referendum Results (2016)
    3. Scottish Independence (2014)
    4. UK 2015 General Election Results (2015)
    5. Pre-Brexit discussion (2016)
    6. UK 2017 General Election results (2017)
    7. London Riots (2011)
    8. UK 2015 General Election campaign (2015)
    9. Jeremy Corbyn leadership crisis (2016)
    10. Conservative leadership campaign (2016)

    11. Donald Trump's Presidency (2016)
    12. USA Presidential Election (2008)
    13. UK 2017 General Election campaign (2017)
    14. Phone Hacking Scandal (2011)
    15. Hillary Clinton Campaign (2008)
    16. Labour leadership campaign (2015)
    17. Disappearance of Madeline McCann (2007)
    18. UK Gay Marriage Debate (2011)
    19. Disappearance of Madeline McCann II (2007)
    20. Grenfell Fire (2017)

    21. Orlando Shooting (2016)
    22. Japanese Earthquake (2011)
    23. UK 2010 General Election Campaign (2010)
    24. Decline of Habitat et al (2011)
    24. Manchester Concert Bombing (2017)
    25. Oscar Pistorious murders is girlfriend (2013)
    26. Wedding of Kate and William (2011)
    27. London Mayoral Election (2008)
    28. Kate Middleton Pregnant (2012)
    29. US 2012 Presidential Election (2012)
    30. UK 2010 Election Debates (2010)

I uhmmed and arrrd about some of the topic. I skipped debate topics that weren't news as such. I could have grouped together related topics, such as Maddie, Elections, Brexit each of which have several topics dedicated to them. I strongly suspect Brexit would be #1 by some distance if I had. The biggest surprise for me was that the Paris attack missed the cut.

I love that there's a "Maddie goes Missing 2" as if she came back and buggered off again.

I think there were about three or four Maddie topics in the end. Moopy, like the Daily Express and the rest of humanity can't get enough of the death bitch. If anything the second one was more about Sexy Kate and Gerry definitely not, but maybe being her killer.

A sad thought is that, in the almost 14 years of Moopy's existence that the 2010 election was the only time a governing party in the UK changed.

I remember very clearly at the time me and my ex scouring the news as well as any dreadful rag we could skim through for the latest updates every single day, with every day making it look more and more likely the McCanns were about to be revealed as EVIL KIDDY KILLERS...and then, nothing! It just sort of fizzled out only to pop up frequently ever since but never actually go anywhere.

Looking back it's a bit grotesque how we seemed to gleefully await the next update and the strange sense of disappointment when they were found "innocent" ( :faloola: )

But then like a motorway pile up or watching a bit of VERA on the telly, it was stupidly compelling. And remains one of the strangest and most fascinating cases in recent times...

Of course if you added celebrity deaths then it would fill up the list.

I did just try to add up the collective topics again, but there are so many regarding certain subjects it's hard to bring it together. Pretty sure it would be something like:

    1. Brexit
    2. Scottish Independence
    3. 2015 General Election
    4. 2010 General Election
    5. 2008 US Election
    6. Donald Trump
    7. Jeremy Corbyn
    8. London Riots
    9. Madeline McCann
    10. Theresa May

Even now we can't help but chat about it. In a sense it's the perfect case for mass speculation and possibly the most infamous UK crime based on sheer speculation and conspiracy since Jack the Ripper.

I remember the coverage was mental then suddenly, over night the jokes became acceptable - I think it was about the time Sexy Kate and Gerry were touted as suspects.

I was surprised to see the 2005 Tube Bombing not there, but I have a feeling it's not been moved over to the relevant forum.

Cunts are way more interesting than Barack Obama. I suspect gay marriage however is certainly one of the top 20 topics.

I always forget that the London Riots were a thing that happened. I would totally welcome a bit of a riot at this point tbh.

There were literally two topics one after another. Maddie was a HUGE CONVERSATION. Even a topic about in recent years went into several pages.

    QOL!

Princess Kate's successful ovaries keep her from falling out. If she goes for a forth then I'd imagine she'll still be there in a year.

I was more besotted with the Shannon / Karen Matthews case. Much more of a human interest element in that one - along with a proper, lager swilling villain in our Karen.

It's a bit unlikely really innit? It's like announcing "Titanic 2".
