What Dr L said, it's from the live version - she kind of SCREAMS the second part of the line. I always think of it whenever I hear the song :D

It's a bit like unavoidably singing "WHAT DO THEY SAY?" whenever I hear the end of the chorus of "Better The Devil You Know".

Bless Niki trying to ad lib along after that line.

    3'31" is your moment.

Though she's a bit more subdued than when she BELLOWED it in London .

Sorry to continue going OT, but as far as Express Yourself perf's go, the Girlie Show one is by far the best. Particularly the London show :disco:

This entire post is the DICTIONARY DEFINITION of QOL!

When Madonna was good, she was AMAZING.

    I THINK you mean,

When Madonna IS good she IS amazing.

TRUST - because the ORIGINAL QoL WILL be returning. I have a feeling the '11/'13 SEASON will be like the '98/'01 and '89/'91 seasons in Madonna history.

Oh and let me just remind you all for the 83332nd time that QoL was coined by Madonna FANS on a Madonna FORUM to describe MADONNA
    Ha WHAT!

It's genuinely only "flopped" in the UK. I really do think it's more to do with the fact there were simply BETTER SONGS OUT right now, rather than it being SHIT.

Not that I think Price Tag is a better song.

It's definitely underperformed in the UK relative to her other stuff (and I don't see the video providing anything more than a short-lived boost). I think it's definitely a reflection on the song; it's just not been received as well as her other stuff over here. It seems, however, to have been massive in the US and Canada. I guess subtlety is less important over there.

I don't think the UK or US charts differ much in terms of recognition of subtlety. I just think the UK is still not in that place yet where you can unleash a song on iTunes the moment it debuts and have it shoot to #1. People here must be more cautious or something. I've had a few people tell me they like the song and might buy it. Maybe elsewhere people are just quicker to take the plunge and we in the UK are TIGHT.

Also two weeks at #3 should definitely never be considered an underperformance. It must already, without a video (or in its first week any airplay), have sold well over 100,000 copies in two weeks.

It is all relative though, isn't it? Compared to both her previous big hits and the performance in the rest of the world, it HAS underperformed. But that's only using those parameters. It's just inevitable that people ARE going to use them.

Well Jessie J made #1 with Price Tag and an instant release strategy, but that's the only example so far and might just have been a one off.

And it's done 145k or so in it's 2 weeks, so it isn't underperforming sales wise, but I think most people expected her to have the #1 spot that second week. So by that marker, it does seem like underperformance.

Is it selling MASSIVELY well in other countries? I mean in its second week at #3 it did sell an amount that more often than not would have got it to #1, and had it not been for the Brits that week, it would almost certainly have been #1, wouldn't it?

How much did Bad Romance sell in its first 2 weeks?

I know not every song can have the impact that did, but it is the benchmark, really...

20k at #14 in week 1 and 25k at #10 in week 2. It's 2 biggest sales weeks were about 72k, the 2 weeks after the X Factor performance.

Bad Romance didn't really take off until the video and the XF performance, did it? I remember everyone panicking that it was going to flop.

Indeed and in the US "Bad Romance" debuted at #9 which sounds a bit WEIRD now that we know of her massive #1 debut with BTW

Are there any big releases next week? Getting any higher than #3 this week will be quite the challenge as both SLY and Price Tag have a second version in the itunes top 11.

Well the only big release I can see next week is The Wanted with the Children In Need single. But I think Jessie J/Adele will probably be more competition than that.

286k downloads isn't all that given the massive airplay. In fact in relative terms it's a disappointment... but as is happening in the UK I expect a boost next week thanks to the video. I think it'll probably wind up on about 2.8 million sold.

Jark you know I never try to jump on any anti-Jark bandwagon but are you FUCKING SERIOUS with this post?
286k in one week is phenomenal in any context let alone in its third week and already sold over 1.2 million
