Ritual defeat for Theresa May needs to become a regular TV fixture.

Someone call ITV: we have a replacement for The X Factor.

I don't want to sound like too much of a conspiracy lunatic but there's no way the Tories haven't been trying to cover the noncing stuff up for decades. One of the main reasons I could never be an MP is that all of my parliamentary questions would be about Elm Guest House and why they murdered Jill Dando.

All I'm saying is Brexit was engineered as a big distraction from investigating Jimmy Savile's ties to Thatcher and the Freemasons.

So Parliament has voted to reject NO DEAL marginally. Which I suppose is HOPEFUL.

Put her on Bake Off and get her to rustle up a bacon sandwich while Ed Milliband watches from a tennis umpire's chair.

This happens surprisingly often :D It's even worse in real life, my voice is way too deadpan.

I was exaggerating the last part but I've always believed the basic substance of the celebrity/politics paedo conspiracies, just not the full-on crazy stuff.

I am not entirely sure that is a good thing. I think this might mean that some of the No Dealers will now vote for May's deal. I think she'll put it to the vote AGAIN and it could likely pass.

It wasn't expected to go this way however. This was an amendment rejecting ANY no deal for the foreseeable future. It's a swing away from the Brexiteers, which is nice.

Yeah a lot of anti-No Deal MPs on both sides didn't support the amendment because they preferred to have the main No Deal vote defeated by a huge margin. Even the MP who tabled it tried unsuccessfully to get it withdrawn.

So it's a victory, but not the one anyone really wanted.

I sincerely hope he dies alone and in agony. I want him to catch a disease that slowly, excruciatingly destroys his internal organs one by one, only for him to burn to death on the day they announce a cure.

So they're voting to take no deal off the table, but it's still the legal default so it's not actually off the table.

And if Article 50 is extended and legal changes are made to ensure we leave with a deal, the deal will likely be the one Theresa May has negotiated because it's the only one we have?

    :D

Well of course, there is another option in theory because Jeremy Corbyn will mention a general election, etc.

We should play a round of House of Commons Brexit Bingo for the speeches afterwards.

"The House of Commons has tonight sent a clear message..."
"There are no further concessions that the EU will make"
"I firmly believe in this deal because it is the only deal"
    "Will of the people"
    "I am determined to deliver..."
"This government is not in control"
"It is time for Theresa May to step aside"
    "General election"

Hope so - May would have to go if she was hit by another 2 or 3 resignations.

Apparently she said that if anyone abstained they would not lose their job - so Rudd etc abstained because of his. Utter cowards!

She is SO weak. The only upside to Brexit happening sooner rather than later would be that she will fuck off as soon as it happens.

Glad the European Commission have clarified that "there are only two ways to leave the EU: with or without a deal"

There's going to be a third parliamentary vote by 20 March. Sources are saying that the ERG will now vote for it. And already talks of a fourth vote if it fails. It's going to keep getting voted on until it eventually passes.

Theresa May calls as many votes as she needs to get the result she wants but a second vote for the public is unacceptable. What a proud day for democracy.

How many MPs are in the ERG? Surely still not enough to get the deal through?

The majority of the ERG (except for the utter lunatics) may be spooked into voting for her deal a third time because it's either THAT Brexit or NO Brexit now that No Deal is not happening. Jacob Rees-Morg has already hinted at this. The DUP won't vote for it unless they remove the backstop and I think there's at least 4-5 Tory Remainers who will vote against it, but it will probably be cancelled out by those 2-3 loons in the Labour Party who keep voting for CRAZY BREXIT like Kate Hoey.

In short, it's going to go down to the wire.

Oh come on and Brancel, you fuckers!

How can they just have more votes on Terry’s deal? I thought they could only legally do it if there is a significant change in it (a nebulous phrase but I think there’s an official meaning behind it)

In theory, yes. In practice, it all depends on how she frames it and whether the Speaker allows it. It's her last roll of the dice so I've no doubt she'll go for it.

Absolutely this. The whole thing in microcosm. Thoroughly ludicrous.
