If I recall correctly, didn't they release Circus a bit too late (in the UK) and "AMy.." stole it's spotlight? Or was it one of those ridiculous cases where it was deemed buzz single or promo single or SOME shit?

I don't think it was released late - it began charting when the album was released and whereas some songs chart for a week and then drop out of the top 75, 'Circus' lingered for 6 weeks and then started to pick up once 'Womanizer' started to pass, so I guess it never really had a proper digital sales spike as a result.

'If U Seek Amy' was a bit more of a typical single release in that the majority of its sales were accumulated when it was pushed as a single.

Her album covers are always awful, nothing new here. I'm looking forward to a new Britney album. I didn't mind Britney Jean at all.

    You know what?

I fucking love the title and the album cover I think is :disco:

Based on the announcement the song is back up to #10 (combined) on US iTunes. The video is out tomorrow. Probably not going to exactly become a mega-smash but it's got some (if not a hell of a lot) traction in the US. Australia and Canada it's doing okay enough in as well.

And 26th of August? Talk about soundtrack to Manchester Pride :disco:

Back to #32 on UK iTunes as well. Not bad given the 'promotion' is simply announcing the album.

I still haven't listened to the single. I really should head over to Spotify.

    That's it? That's a little bit disappointing.

It's nice enough but not much more.

    Which one?

I haven't heard Private Show yet. I like Make Me, but I don't love it. Not really what I'm after from Britney, but I do think it's good she switched it up a bit.

Zooming up US iTunes - #13 and #78 now - combined about #6. If the video comes tomorrow as expected she may well hit the top 5 again.

"Make Me". It's fine but an odd choice of lead single.

Not too bad at all now. They need to release the video tomorrow though to really capitalise.

So, the video is a big product placement of a car, a gym and Sony and displays some more of the theme 'Britney during sex preliminaries'

And she has done something to that upper lip of hers. It's droopy and curvy at the edges in a way it wasn't before.

Well that's pretty shit. I thought we were getting some sort of underground bondage theme thing instead of QUIRKY AND RELATABLE. The random rapper guy didn't even turn up for the video and it culminates in Britney showing her dancers some of her homemade amateur porn?

I'm not even sure if that shirtless man was playing the guitar. And who the fuck is Michael?

That has to be her most cringe video yet. Such a shame. The song deserved more.

Apparently there's another video and someone let Britney choose this one.

I've seen clips of the other video and I can totally see why it wasn't released because it's just creepy. The rapper's bits are shot like POV porn while Britney bends over. Maybe ten years ago, but 2016 Britney can't pull off slutty without looking SAD and EXPLOITED.

That Val Cherish pout as she puts her lippy on :D

Even if they cut all the whooping it would be okay. I still see no shame in B's mid-tempo game, the song is deluxe.

Is there any precedent for an album cover just being a screenshot from a music video? :gross:

I'm finding this quite the grower. There's only one hook but it's definitely got stuck in my brain.

G-Eazy looks like a right (sort of sexy) sleaze which makes him a perfect match with BRIT BRIT behind closed doors I reckon.

There are moments in the video where it almost hits the spot - basically all the bits where she's not whooping, gyrating or sexing.

I find the verses slow it down a bit. A beefed up chorus with a subtle dance beat , not speeding it up at all, and maybe a proper bridge without G-eazy would really elevate it. But I guess I like that it's not as reliant on the EDM bells and whistles that she's used to offering

The LaChapelle video just needs to leak, would be excellent promo for it "her team didn't want you to see it, UNTIL NOW... the sex controversy at 11..."

The "official" video is not her worst, as long as "Gimme More", "Ooh La La", "Perfume", and "PRETTY GIRLS" are all in existence. It's a clear "emergency, is there a vacant set for this weekend we don't need to set up or do anything with, or any post -production whatsoever on" situation, but she looks good and the video is boring, not funny or clever, but 98% of videos aren't these days anyway

That La Chapelle video is obviously better but it's basically just the video for Slave combined with bits from her other videos and brings nothing new.

I'm surprised La Chapelle made that, there's very few traces of the tacky glamour aesthetic that would be perfect for Britney if properly realised.

i've seen the video for the first time on a TV screen last night at some bar. what the fuck has she done to her face? Especially her nose, like, it's so obvious it puts Ashlee Simpson to shame! They left her with an awful button nose it was so distracting.

    Also, re:her body, LIPO right?

Well the video/album announcement helped a little.

US it's up 24 to #43 this week, and back up 20 to #22 in Canada. Doing fuck all everywhere else, but with Carpool Karaoke and the album out next Friday it may mean another couple of weeks floating around this region in North America, which is at least better than Pretty Girls.
