BBC4 Documentary following the recent ill-fated Bros reunion. Whatever you're doing right now, drop it and put this on. I am howling with laughter.

Matt Goss is one of the most compellingly stupid people I have ever seen on television, but the quotes are absolute gold. I'm amazed this is real and not a Christopher Guest mockumentary.

I went the the premiere of this at the LFF with the Goss brothers and a bunch of Brossettes (and Pat Sharp).

Really happy the public seeing it have the same reaction as I did because in the screening, the Spinal Tap-ishness of it was lost of the rest of the room.

This was brilliantly awful viewing and seems to have had more buzz than their actual comeback gigs.

Luke comes off just about ok by comparison, if a bit earnest and unsuitably real music, but Manscaping Matt is completely ridiculous with zero self awareness.

Have the comeback gigs happened? I'd completely forgotten all about them.

Well this looks like a must. Not even four minutes in and we’ve already had dozy Luke saying, “I’m a London boy. Big Ben. THE EMBANKMENT.” :D:D:D

I'm going to watch this on the 1st; my Facebook is full of people saying "never mind Anvil, THIS is the real life Spinal Tap".

My fav line was Matt going on a hearty rant about not being able to play conkers in school playgrounds now, and Luke in the background just going "I can live with it".

A few more quotes stolen from a Letterboxd review:

"I think the letters H, O, M, E are most important... because they personify the word 'home'."

"I'm still proud that I came to a completely different country, and started to chip away again, with a butter knife, at a very big tree. And I've said 'timber' on quite a few trees now."

"Everyone has to be on the same page. Otherwise you don't get to turn the page. Because somebody gets left behind, and then somebody's lost the page of the story, which may be key to the ending."

"It's one of those situations where if you fall asleep, you're definitely going to miss the train."

"Rome wasn't built in a day, fuck me that's true. But we don't have the time that Rome had."

I'm fascinated by the construction of Matt's hair. Especially given Luke is completely bald.

It sounds like there were another four that were pulled and then a Manchester one that was cancelled after the bombing.

I know nostalgia tours are big money, but I never did get a sense that there was a HUGE appetite for a Bros revival, and I'd have thought I was the age bracket they were aiming at.

Oh the fans in this documentary are SOMETHING ELSE

The middle aged woman banging on about the many nights she spent fantasising about sticking her finger through the hole in Matt's jeans was a particular highlight.

    First rehearsal going well :side-eye:

And :D! at the mere idea of the dismal ‘Chocolate Box’ being some of the fans’ FAVOURITE SONG!

Is it some sort of GLUE-ON? He does seem to be fiddling with it rather excessively when it’s not hidden under another lovely hat :side-eye:

I think they have a few thousand very loyal fans and they kind of know each other in their community, but outside of that there’s not much.

She was there in attendance at the premiere. There were a few moments when the women all jumped up to point at their friends appearing on screen.

I’m too lazy to do a screencap but :D:D:D at the look on the rather :horny: porky crew member’s face at 52:18

    So DISRESPECTFUL! :disco:

Obviously I can’t stop thinking about them now and am reminded that this remains one of the most appalling songs ever. In fact 98.6% of their oeuvre was FUCKING DREADFUL

Quite the feat to make Kajagoogoo’s ‘Ooh To Be Ah’ (which comes with a slightly perverse :disco:) sound like a riot of catchiness in comparison :side-eye:

I have little desire to watch this. I could never stand them.

I do recall an interview with them back in 1988/89 on Going Live, where one of them proclaimed that "we're the cause of the rain-forests"

Even as an 8 year old I knew they were thick as fuck.

I Owe You Nothing must be one of the least-remembered number ones of the era, surely?

I couldn’t hum a single verse of any of their singles with the possible exception of 'When Will I Be Famous?' Shockingly lazy, shoddy drivel

The singles from the second album all seemed to be the same backing track and tune IF YOU COULD CALL IT THAT with slight variations in the MMMOOOOHARRRRRGH bits

    TOO MUCH indeed

“Too Much” and “Madly In Love” were actually the same song, though, no? I seem to remember they were quite open about that at the time in some way...

    Mesmerising. They are frighteningly thick.

I want to hear Craig Logan's account of his time in the band now.

Personally I’m much more familiar with Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You than I am with I Owe You Nothing, but that might be a combination of it having been released a few years later and Glenn not having another, much more famous hit that didn’t happen to get to #1.

The only Bros songs I know are When Will I Be Famous and their horrible cover of Silent Night.

Well I remember I Owe You Nothing. I went through my boy band phase very early and Bros were the first teeny group I liked (discounting Duran Duran for credibility reasons), followed by NKOTB.

I don't think the Glenn Medeiros song is forgotten - if for no other reason that he always features on 1 hit wonders countdowns (the number 12 duet with Bobby Brown notwithstanding).
